Iceman cometh.... again!
Comments (11)Same weather in Toronto - we are having heavy rain (hence the dog needs to go out more - Murphy's Law - and he is an American Eskimo so lots of wet fur). I, too, am worried about the snow we are getting tomorrow and the drop in temperature that is forecast. And it will happen because my husband is going out of town - and every time he goes out of town, it warms up where he is going and freezes here. I have 3 types of salt alternative but still go for a "spin". I bought Yak's last year - at first convinced that my husband would not wear them, but he loves them and now several people in his office have purchased them based on his success in navigating the Toronto streets. He of course takes them off when entering a building or getting on the subway. I strongly suggest you find a store that sells them - the web site will list retail stores and be very careful of the size. I had read of a lady whose boots are size 9s- same as mine - and she was convinced by the store (she didn't have her boots with her) that she needed the women's size 9 - well she needed the next size up - the Small covers size 9 - she needed the Medium and went through heck to make the exchange. So, I called the head office and they agreed - do not give in. If possible take the boots you will be wearing with the Yaks and try them on. When I bought mine, I tried them on my size 9 boots and sure enough needed the Medium. So then I move on to my husband - his boots are size 11 - but the teenager insisted that he would need only the Medium since size 11 is included in that size range. The store happened to sell boots in a style similar to his, so I asked the kid to get a pair and to put the Mediums on said boots - of course they didn't fit. But he still insisted he was right. So I asked him why I needed a size Small for my size 9 boots and he said I was wrong - so I asked him to put the Small on my boots - of course they didn't fit. He then told me he doesn't wear boots - he just puts his Yaks on his sneakers and Mommy drivs him to works - this explains the sizing issue. You would think that he would have grasped the obvious when he couldn't get the Smalls on my boots or the Mediums on the size 11s - which is why I called and asked the company for advice before going. Apparently, people generally call with this problem after the fact. There are 2 types of Yaks - one is really for heavy duty work - such as postmen - the "lighter" version is for everyday use - and this was only version sold at the store I went to - and the type recommended for our use - walking the dog etc. Hope you find something that works for you and that you don't fall. I bought a cane last year - so many people don't shovel or use salt etc. - I even saw kids using ski poles to keep their balance....See MoreCLXX Do You See the Snowdrops?

Comments (34)I asked what sizes were available and she said a 3 gallon and a citripot. I had never heard of a citripot and asked what it was. I even asked if she had a 5 gallon but the answer was no. I doubled checked my receipt since you made me doubt what I ordered. lol. It shows a 3 gallon and the picture on the website when I ordered said 3 gallon. If I was charged $36 for a citripot, I would be really ticked off. There will be more forthcoming she said. I hope I get a really nice looking tree with a straight trunk. Every tree I have ever received from them has had a crook just before the canopy....See MoreGame CL1* October
