Window Treatments: Small Bathroom Windows on Front of Home

Hello,

This bathroom is on the second floor, but the front of our home. The home is a 1930's Tutor. I am looking for window covering recommendations. Each window measures 12"X 53" (interior). My goal is to continue to allow light into the space, create privacy, and to maintain a nice presentation from the exterior. I appreciate your thoughts!

i have several exterior bathroom windows on the second floor. I use cafe curtains.

I think the big question is why the architect didn’t design those windows correctly. The window at the vanity is off center. That would grit my teeth every time I walked up to the counter. It is inexcusable that he/she didn’t catch the mistake with a window in the shower. Even film on the window won’t prevent shadowing shapes of people in the shower. I echo the thought of a correctly waterproof window in the shower, at the minimum.

I’m no expert on window treatments, but I think Roman blind or cafe curtain here. I had a similar dilemma with some inswing casements in a bathroom, and I resisted the idea of window film. Then one day, I gave it a shot, and wondered why I waited so long! It was a perfect solution (for me,) and the entire roll of film was under $10. Just a thought—you’d have very little to lose, though you want a steady hand when you apply it. Also: that is a beautiful tub! So elegant. And one more thing: may I ask what us that green thing out the window?? good luck!

Plantation shutters would look great but they are also very expensive for that size window and we don't plan on staying here too much longer. My husband and I plan on selling the house within a couple of years so I have been looking for ways to do some updates. My style is more traditional with oil rubbed bronze fixtures and deep rich colors like browns, cremes and a touch of burgundy. I the colors I have a pretty solid decision on, just looking for ideas on the styles. Since the window is on the main floor and it on the front of the house, privacy is a must.

We used Hunter Douglas designer screen shades in the two bathrooms with windows. At the time, they offered Roman style screen shades, but then they went to flat shades but the time we ordered for our Master Bedroom.

I would 100% recommend going with poly-resin shutters. They're perfect in bathrooms as they are waterproof and durable. Shutters also create a beautiful curb appeal. Here is a picture of one of our bathroom projects.

We have plenty of information about design options etc on our website, depending on if you want a modern look or a more traditional style. Shutters are so versatile and you can create a look to match your style.
