Sweet & Sour Meatballs a la Electromatic Skillet
Comments (14)Neat skillet set, PK! I love Corningware all over again! I have some casseroles that are from the early 1970s, some Grab-its for soup, and now I have a cute squaty 6 cup tea kettle for boiling water. It heats up so fast I am amazed! Do try the chili sauce and grape jelly meatballs, they are really good. I've made the cranberry version too and like that as well. I like to put a TB or two of dried onion soup in with the chili sauce and grape jelly version. Not a whole package of the dried soup, just a little bit....See MoreFrozen meatballs, jar of sauce and a crockpot
Comments (13)Alexa, how old is the crockpot? The newer ones ron hotter than the ones from the 90's. If they are frozen, dump it all together at about 1 pm, set the cooker to high if it is an older one, or on low if a newer one. If they are not done, you can always turn the cooker up to high or transfer to a casserole dish and nuke them. I have done this too for other functions and it works. I will not disown you. Comments (18)These may be made as appetizers and kept warm in a chafing dish, or served as an entree over rice. This will freeze well and may be made well in advance. Serves 6-8. Ingredients: 1/2 cup cooking oil 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef 1 garlic clove, minced 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 cup chicken stock 1 - 14 oz. can pineapple chunks, drained. (Reserve juice) 3 Tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup reserved pineapple juice 1/2 cup vinegar 3 Tbsp. soy sauce Optional: 1 large tomato, peeled and chopped 2 large green peppers, cut in 1" squares Instructions: Heat oil in frying pan. Add meatballs to pan.Cook until brown. Remove meatballs and add pineapple chunks. Cook several minute. Return meat to pan and simmer 3 minutes more. Mix cornstarch, sugar, pineapple juice, vinegar and soy sauce together until smooth. Add to pan stirring constantly, until thickened. If serving tomato pieces, add just before serving. I have been making these for years. The original recipe calls for homemade meatballs but I have found everyone enjoys it just as well with using the frozen meat balls. Enjoy....See Morechloebud
