Orchid ID please
Comments (5)Rachel, there is a little problem with Golden Red Star. Sure, it is there at the University of Google but it is not in the place that matters, that is the orchid register at Kew. There is a problem that occurs at most orchid societies around the world and even here on this forum. That is Orchid Naming stuff is Rocket Science! Oncostele Wildcat 'Bloodshot' is a many times mericloned orchid and sometimes in the mericloning process things go wrong or in this case things go wrong in a good way. So, a few years this entry appeared on the listing of the Nursery where I buy Orchid Society Raffle plants. Oncostele Wildcat 'Bloodshot' (Mutation) I'm not sure if this is the correct way to write the name or not but it is better than a made up name....See MoreID for this little orchid please!

Comments (4)It Looks like something in the cattleya alliance to me. You will need flowers to get anything more specific. Even if I am correct on the alliance, there are tens of thousands of plants that would fit that description. It’s also extremely dehydrated because it has absolutely no roots. It will take a good deal of nurturing and several years before it’s back to health enough to flower. Are you an experienced grower with a growing area suitable for recovery?...See MoreOrchid ID, Please
Comments (6)I have a very similar oncidium, and it has been a great bloomer for me. I keep it outside all year in coastal Los Angeles, and it blooms without my knowing it sometimes, as I have it in a somewhat hidden space. Mine re-bloomed a couple of months ago, and so now it is time for me to repot it, as it is growing out of the small pot I have it in, and it is getting tippy....See Morethefof Zone 8/9 UK
