Whew...that is slightly better news than I was expecting. But careful watering, would you recommend the accidental of overwatering or underwatering? I'm heading back to my university for a few weeks, and I have the option of either loading it up with water before I leave or leaving it as it is (I watered thuroughly when first planted yesterday) and let it dry out a bit. Also, would you recommend fertilizing or not quite yet? Thanks so much!

As mentioned above, Captan is desirable to use on the wounds to help the drying process which is imperative before planting. You can also use cinnamon. The cut areas should be totally dry before being set in damp soil. If however the cuts are above the soil line than you could plant, just being careful to keep the wounded areas dry until they harden over. Regardless of whether or not you use a drying agent if they have been air dried and you feel that they are totally calloused over then it should be safe to plant. Donna☺☺

Where do you live? If you're in the Southern Hemisphere, it's time for your bulbs to go dormant. If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, your best growing is still ahead. Assuming the latter, I would suggest repotting your bulb in fresh soil that is just damp. Water sparingly until you have new roots established.

I think I'll take your suggestion Donna. I should have had a better look at the bulb through the mesh bag. I am not interested in a bulb that isn't going to perform. Being an amateur (but trying my best), I really want a bulb to bloom nicely because I don't know how long it will be before I get it to bloom again. Even on sale, then it's no deal! Thanks Donna! I was curious about the roots on the bulb as I couldn't find any photos on the forum of healthy, new bulbs with their roots. That's why I had asked about the roots.
