Well, i have found-the best way to mower the lawn is to first buy a nice self-propelled walk behind lawn mower. Read the instructions on how to sstart it, and how to maintain it, and after you discover the proper way to do those things--start it up and go mow the lawn. If you need instructions on that--ride around until you see somebody mowing their lawn, and watch to see how it is done! The main thing in lawn mowing is this sequence of operation: Clear lawn of all rocks, dog bones and deposits, sticks and other detritus. Start engine. Push mower in straight overlapping lines, then mow around trees, plantings, etc. When you get tired or when you are finished, shut it down, push it out back and into the garage, then open a cool one, and sit back and admire your handiwork! If you buy a power mower, the blade that comes with it will usually suffice for regular lawn mowing. If you have special needs, check where you bought the mower. They might have special blades. Warning: Keep hands and feet out from under a running rotary or any kind of powered mower when it is running! If you buy a new one, before starting it--read fully the manual that comes with it, so you don't find your fingers laying on the floor, or the grass! Also, most new lawn equipment comes with no oil in the engine, so check that first before starting it! And, always check the oil before starting, the next time you go to use it! Wipe the stick, then insert it again to get the true reading. Be careful with any powered equipment, and you shouldn't have any problems.

In the shrub forum, Gardengal has ID'd this evergreen shrub/small tree as Jatropha integerrima. So, it's marginal even in 10a. Cmcgalrd01 lives in the Houston area (zone 9, maybe high 8 in some outlying areas). Sounds like it's going to be a real stretch keeping it alive without bring it indoors in the winter or providing quite a bit of protection.

Nice acquisition, Dana, and a good save! I'm sure those poor bulbs would have ended up in a landfill somewhere if you hadn't saved them, and at such a nice price, too! Way to make a deal! With good culture, I'm sure you'll see the spent ones bloom next year, and the ones that haven't bloomed will probably bloom now! In this case, a mislabel wouldn't hurt at all, and is desirable! You never know what's hiding in the mass amounts of bulb kits these large stores get in... I expected one of mine to be a White Dazzler, but it's a Minerva... which suits me just fine! I think with good care you'll have quite a beautiful potted garden!
