So after a little more research I am thinking of sistering up the floor joists with a true 2" 2x ( for 3.5" x 9.25). This boosts my Deflection up to L742 if I am using the calculator correctly. If i were to go with dimensional 2x 10s Its looking like I am at L636. I am wondering how close you really need to be to this magic number. Are there any other suggestions that you experts might have? Is the 3/4 ply with 1/4 hardibacker solid enough or am i looking at putting additional plywood down too?

I think you were right. After much thought, I chose bleeker beige and neutralized the entire room. Amazing....I was a little scared when it first went up because while it was still wet it looked greenish. However, now that it is dry, I can say it is really nice. In some light it looks a little gray and in other light it looks a little tan. This color is the answer to the "what grey can you do with golden oak floors or wood molding" question. The painter is 75 percent done. I will post pics when he is done. Then perhaps everyone here can help me choose an accent color for the room!

Contact the manufacturer or distributor. I installed my own and used a "Loudmouth" alarm while doing any work on the floor. My cable is Elektra, made in Poland. To my eye, it looks like superb quality. The heating conductor is insulated and then spiral wrapped with a small gauge grounding conductor. Patching would be difficult.

OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! What an ordeal/adventure! I steppe on a board with a nail one time... went right thu my cheap "bobo" sneakers. Very strange feeling, not terribly painful, but just knowing I had to pull that nail OUT of my foot was nasty. I cleaned foot up well, soaked in warn soapy water. I couldn't remember ever having a tetanus shot... maybe back when I was college age? Really didn't want to go get that shot... had heard stories about how painful it was?? When I woke up the next morning and could barely walk on that foot... off to doctor I went. Jasdip... got first flu shot EVER about a month ago. Was in W-mart picking up a prescription and was kinda guilted into it... I qualified (age? Medicare?) for no deductible/cost. Small needle, very thin, pretty much no "pain" to speak of, but a really warm sensation going in??
