If you look at the Modern-Aire site, they have several shapes where the front tapers at the top to the depth of an upper cabinet, and the sides are straight so as to butt up to, and cover, the yellow cabinet sides you mentioned. Their typical sizes are 18" and 30" high, but you could get a 24" custom one if your budget allows. Or you could get an 18" and have a box made for above it to cover that area and to which you could attach replacement moulding. The box could be made of either wood matching your moulding or sheetrock. Vent-a-hood has a stainless direct replacement if you decide to stick with the same size you now have. I have always admired the look of the hoods that are painted/stained to match cabs, but not an actual cab, and have a integrated mini-mantle on the front- It makes a natural focal point where you can really add a personal, and impermanent touch to the room. You can rest a platter, or a piece of art, an antique sign, etc. Depending on how deep it is you can even do larger items. My mom designed one that is about 12 inches deep specifically to house a family antique blue and white soup tureen.

Depends on the number of plants you have and their overall health at this point. And if you are sick of tomatoes or not. ;-) I have terminated about 20 here and there that had only a few greens left and were in pretty bad shape. But I've still got another 30-40 spring planted indeterminates that are healthy and still loaded with greens. Those I'll let ride for sure till frost. No point in letting all those fruit go to waste when there is still time for them to ripen some. The best of them can easily be covered with frost protection to give them an extra 4-6 weeks if necessary. But then I don't have to deal with a possible hurricane either. Dave

not sure august is the time to moving annuals around the garden ... you might lose not only the one you move.. but also severely impact the one you leave ... besides.. in mother earth.. i dont really see why they would need to be moved ... they arent necessarily going to kill each other ... plz include your location in every post ... not so important here.. but it might be in that lonely rose post ... ken ps: in my rural area.. if i were throwing uncomposted kitchen scraps around my plants ... i would probably have fights out there from raccoons.. skunks ...ground hogs ....and mice ... trust me.. if you dont have them now.. you dont want to be attracting them to your garden ....
