US seed companies which ship to UK

I am so fed up with searching for leucophyllum, baileya radiata, four nerve daisy, tagetes lemmonii, justicia and most enraging of all, damianita. I have nagged and whined to get my hands on callirhoe and honestly don't really feel like importuning innocent forum members to fulfil my insane whims. I know that UK seed companies are happy to ship across the pond but it seems the travel is one way only. So far, have uncovered one source of baileya radiata but the costs are eye-watering...and if I could get a coupla others, I would cheerfully pay the over the top 'handling charge' and postage...but I can't justify spending over £20 for 30 baileya seeds.

There are 3 species of Baileya that have 'radiata' in there species names. Strictly Medicinal Seeds sells Baileya multiradiata seeds, and they are in the UK. I really don't mind sending seeds to friends in the UK, I've done it before. 4 nerved daisy? Is that a Tetraneuris species? Tagetes lemmonii shouldn't be difficult to get. What species of Justicia are you looking for? I don't know anything about Damianita? I grew Damiana once long ago. I tried growing Tetraneuris acaulis from seed, but only had a couple germinate, and they never made it past the pot stage, but you're much more experienced with germinating seeds and tending the seedlings than I am.

Heya Jay - I keep losing the thread for the native plant forum...Do you remember Mara from Texas (wantonamara)? And her friend, Janet (Texas Ranger, aka Great Plains).We had a little seed thing going which definitely got me interested in quite a few Texas natives...including my beloved ipomopsis and various salvias. And definitely grasses - deer muhly, seep muhly et al. I think we were both growing on poor soil with a high calcareous subsoil. I was just about to get lost in dykias when we wandered off down different roads (and I was banned!) Anyway, Danny was kind enough to send me some callirhoe bushii but have been at a loss since then. Would mostly be happy with baileya multiradiata, tagetes lemmonii and chrysactinia mexicana (damianita). Had no luck at all with pigeon berries. Strictly medicinal seeds - not in the UK, sadly, but in Oregon.

Justicia is just a wild whim - j.californica or j.spicigera mayhaps.

Um, not particularly convinced I am any sort of germination expert - if you sow a lot of seeds (as I do) then you are going to get a lot of germinations...but for sure, I have woeful fails. Anyhoo, I am going to message you so as not to take up forum space rambling on.

There is some virus on this site tonight trying to bring up a dead website when you click on the page, including this editing area. Annoying. NTEP has three maintenance schedules. Many of the seeds report there performance on Schedule A. In their own adds they highlight a test for an obscure year. NTEP doesn't seem to rank by Schedule C, but does by A&B. I looked at the Schedule B rankings for NJ. Also had a conversation with the seed guy at Lebanon, tried to track down different seeds. It is off season, and if a distributor is stocked out, they are stocked out until March. SeedSuperstore only lists two Turf Merchants cultivars (both good ones) and a blend of those two and a third (also good). I did find Lebanon's Winning Colors, Winning Colors Plus (adds bluegrass), and SportTurf (80% specific fescues, 10% rye, 10% bluegrass about an hour away. Note, I need about 500#, shipping is an issue. I sorted the Schedule B list my NJ1, New Brunswick. Using the links you guys posted I identified the #2 Bullseye, #3 Mustang 4, and #5 Cochise IV. Now the question is it worth getting these shipped over a mix from Lebanon that includes #7 Van Gogh and an unranked on this scale DaVinci? I noticed another unranked one which was deep green and had roadside as an application. Several claim high rhizome growth, not a TTTF characteristic, and not included in the NTEP reports. All the ranked ones were 8.0 or 8.2. Could we really tell a 7.0 from an 8.0 without a back-to-back comparison? I'm wondering if getting the Winning Colors from the local distributor is the best choice. $.90 or $1.25/pound, without and with bluegrass, respectively. I guess the bluegrass nearly doubles the amount of seed. Net, probably around the same cost. SCHEDULE A (High Maintenance/Fairway) 1. Mowing height: 0.5" to 0.75" 2. Nitrogen rate (lbs. I just stumbled onto this thread. I'm usually posting in the New England forum, but once in awhile I click on the Maine forum button that is at the top of the NE forum page. I was also getting ready to order seeds, so this thread caught my eye. I also have ordered from Fedco, Johnny's Seeds, and Pinetree. I used to order from Pinetree every year, because I only needed small amounts and their prices were so reasonable. But after doing that for about 6 years, I decided that the plants I ended up with, were often not the quality that I was expecting. I started to question whether who ever was 'saving' and packaging the seed, knew what they were doing as far as choosing the strongest and best plant to save seed from. So I stopped buying from them. I think they are fine if you are starting out and on a budget, but you be the judge if you think the quality of the plant is what you were looking for. I order from Johnny's but I find them pretty expensive and I only purchase seeds that I can't find other places. Which brings me to Fedco. I've bought from them in the past specifically because of their opposition to Monsanto. It doesn't matter to me if the possibility of getting a genetically modified seed is small to non existent. I'm happy that this company and all the companies that sign the safe seed pledge, are aware of the GMO issue and are stating their intentions as far as that goes. The fact that I have read enough about Monsanto to oppose them and what they do, makes Fedco's efforts to do the same, right in line with how I feel, so that is a major reason I purchase seed from them. If someone is unaware of what Monsanto is up to and why so many people are concerned enough to make an attempt to oppose them, it's a quick google search to find out more about it. I offer a link from a magazine article as a starting point, below. I also garden organically and Fedco offers a selection of organic seed at a reasonable price. But there are other companies too, who offer organic seeds. Here are a few... Is there any perfect seed company that has low seed prices, low shipping and handling, huge selection of varieties all in stock, both heirloom and hybrids, that accepts internet orders using a credit card and ship within a day with no **** No, there is no such perfect company that will offer every OP or hybrid that you might want, that takes phone orders or credit cards and ships within a day or two, that has low seed prices and low shipping costs and has great customer service I'll add. I think it's a matter of you deciding what's most important to you. Is it variety selection? Is it what you call low cost shipping, low seed prices, etc. I don't know of anyone who buys tomato seed from just one company so if I were you I think I'd reveiw some of the companies that have been suggested to you and after checking them out chose however many places might meet your needs, on a priority basis re all the criteria you mentioned. Tagetes lemonii is not readily available (as seed at least) from what I can see. though I seem to remember it germinates well (it IS a marigold after all).

Janet and Mara haven't been seen (as far as I know) for years.

Today I'm collecting hibiscus laevis and lasiocarpus for the Wild Ones seed swap in October. It's far too early for most seed to be mature unfortunately, but I hope to get some rudbeckia laciniata and maybe some bidens aristosa also by end of next month.

I'm growing Palafoxia callosa, Monarda punctata, Monarda citriodora, Ruellia humulis, Amorpha canescens, Symphyotrichum ericoides and Eryngium yuccifolium. Symphyotrichum lateriflorum is weedy here, so I treat all the vollunteers as annuals, and I pull them out after they finish blooming. Some of my goldenrods probably do well in dry conditions like Oligoneuron rigida, Solidago ptarmicoides and Solidago drummondii.

Jay, the weirdness is that rigida and drummondii are the two non-weedy goldenrods that do best in my wetter soil as well. Just never know.

Rosaprimula, I see that Jekka has the Tagetes as plants. Might be worth enquiring about seed.
