Louise Odier - how long to wait
Comments (8)It took a while to get my LO going. Don't give up. Old "beat it back with a whip" is huge now. I give a rose at least three years to get established. It didn't like our -27 degree fun in the tundra this year, but it is bouncing back strong. It gets a nice blend of shade and sun and is a happy bird otherwise. It seems that older roses appreciate organics more than modern chemicals IMHO. I assume you had your soil tested. Manure and a nice leaf mulch cover will cure a world of ills. I grow my bands on the deck during the summer also, but try to plant them so they have at least a few months to grow a nice root system. You might check with a local CR. The only yellow leaves I have seen is in receiving new plants from the nursery where the plants got drowndeaderated. You ruled drainage out. Don't you just love Burling's roses, I'm getting ready to place another order with her. Must look up LdA, she looks intriguing. Thanks. Jane...See MoreCould this rose be Augusta Louise?
Comments (9)sugarandrose... what beautiful pics! Free Spirit is also a Tantau rose which explains the similarity. Beth....I saw your florist rose rooting thread and I think I'm going to give it a try. I just rooted a beautiful dusty pink, large, fragrant carnation and I'm really happy about it! Of course, carnations are much easier than roses :)...See MoreWhat’s blooming right now.
Comments (32)Sean, what a gorgeous rose you have grown! What an inspiration. I didn’t realize she could be so nicely controlled. Thank you all, again for your sweet words concerning my garden! I almost hesitate to post pictures where “the experts” can see. There are so many amazing gardeners on here, and I look up to you all so much. It means a lot to have your praise and comments....See Moreingrid_vc zone 10 San Diego County
