Choosing new flooring- seeking advice
Comments (2)We picked up a "freebie" doublewide in FL a couple years ago - all the floors have been redone....removed the press-wood and installed three-quarter inch plywood. We opted for laminate - think it was the smartest move we made!! It was easy to install, not very costly (from HD) and we made sure to pick up two extra packs, for the accident we hope never comes. We have animals and it is proving very durable and easy to maintain. We also replaced the insulation and vapor barrier underneath. We were in our late 60's, but a room at a time and it was a done deal. You can check out how it is done by others on YouTube or thru a Google Search. I am of the opinion that patience is the key.....go for it and good luck....See MoreHelp choosing new flooring & wall color for remodel
Comments (6)You can go light or dark with the medium cabinets. I suggest you ask the flooring refinisher to bring some samples of red oak with a clear polyurethane finish and some medium warm brown stain similar to what you have now. Then after your own floors are sanded, the pro can put some stain samples on to see how they looks on your floors. Comments (2)"We're looking to replace indoor carpet that is over 25 years old and original to our house. The living room and dining room are one big connected area that is about 30 feet long and varies in width from 15' to 22'." That describes my project to a tee. No pets though, and none in the future. Also I have good, solid, even floors. I'm planning on engineered wood. Sounds like you might want a floating LVP type of product....See MoreHelp with choosing new flooring
Comments (14)Before you make your final decision please check out this wire brushed, white washed product I found at Floor & Decor. The pictures don't do it justice, but after looking at scores of samples, I thought this one was the most realistic and would deal with sand on the bottom os shoes and dogs. I like the texture, the not too shiny finish & the natural flaws in the planks. https://www.flooranddecor.com/laminate-laminate/rustic-timber-whitewash-laminate-100190495.html#prefn1=brand&prefn2=productSubtype&prefv1=Hampstead&prefv2=Laminate&start=45 If you're from San Diego, they have 7 stores near there. https://www.flooranddecor.com/stores...See MoreJAN MOYER
