last modified: 3 years ago

Daughter bought a huge jug of chocolatr syrup for grandsons‘ ice cream. Apparently they prefer chocolate shell. i hated to throw it out. Then I spotted a recipe for chocolate cake that used one cup of chocolate syrup. Made a nice cake in an 8 inch square pan, and it is even moister the next day if you cover the pan with foil after the cake has cooled. Now I am wondering if i might have another cup of syrup in the jug to make another cake sometime.

CHOCOLATE SYRUP FAMILY CAKE

1 stick butter, softened

1 c sugar

4 eggs

1 c sifted flour

1 tsp baking powder

dash of salt

1 c Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 tsp almond extract, optional

Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine dry ingredients and add alternating with syrup. Add flavorings. Bake in a greased 8x8 pan for 60 minutes at 325 degrees. cool. Cover pan with foil. It is much moister the next day.
