Earth Angel....is your rebloom cycle slow like mine?
Comments (10)In my garden, I would call Bolero a " mass production blooming machine", while Earth Angel is more in the " exquisitely hand crafted in small batches" kind of rose. Yes, I'd love more of Earth Angels gorgeous blooms, but maybe that will improve with maturity. For now I just enjoy each and every bloom I get from Earth Angel. I must admit that as gorgeous as Boleros blooms are, I almost take them for granted by now. There are always so many blooms, all of the time, that I don't ooh and aah over each one. I guess that's human nature. I definitely ooh and aah over each Earth Angel bloom. I'm willing to keep my Earth Angel for sure, but like Moses, I'm not rushing out to buy a second one. If mine starts blooming more frequently with age, I might. If I had all space, $, energy and water in the world, I would buy enough Earth Angels to ensure a supply of them for big vasefuls. Alas, I do not. I will just enjoy my one Earth Angel for now. Lisa...See MoreWhat’s wrong with my Earth Angel(s)
Comments (21)I think this is could possibly be a magnesium deficiency. My source is "Compendium of Rose Diseases (1983) APS Press. I also wonder if this is not last years leaves getting ready to drop since the Florida growing season probably is not cold enough to make a rose drop all of its foliage in the winter. The new growth looks healthy and vigorous with no signs of distress. Even here in Oregon I see those kind of old leaves in spring on the hardiest roses which did not drop foliage I doubt it to be RMV. All own root roses of this variety sold through 2017 originated from virus indexed mother block from Germany and all own root propagation was from the original stock. No licensed producer used cuttings from budded roses; so while it is impossible to say it does not have RMV, it is unlikely. If you bought the rose locally in Florida it was grown in fields in in Arizona where there is RMV, but it is usually passed on through the root stocks and from infected grafting materials. It typically does not spread to the own root roses unless cuttings were taken from infected plants - from budded plants. I would watch the plants and see if any more mature foliage develops these symptoms, if so, I would think about adding some micro elements to the fertilizer. My guess is these leaves will drop and your rose will look great. Looks like you have a lot of buds coming....See MoreEarth Angel-- does it take the Heat?
Comments (12)Ben I think you have a point with the cooler evenings. Remember how well Madame Anisette would bloom for Cori Ann? Same with Summer romance. I think the cooler nights seems to be the answer. @sautesmom Sacramento I am not the best to describe scents, but to me it smells very lemony with hints of apple. Definitely a strong citrusy scent. Intensity 3/3. After posting my comment I went in search of a professional description. I am glad to realize I am wasn’t too off. I definitely can tell the “champagne “ scent which is probably what I think off as apples. I can’t tell the raspberries but again I am not great at telling specifics. Definitely a beautifully scented rose as long as you don’t mind fruity....See Moreearth angels buds cut em?
Comments (0)So I have 6 earth angel bushes that I’m going to be putting in the ground soon. I think they’re probably 2-3 year old bushes from the nursery. It seems like the buds are opening too soon before the flower is ready. Should I cut these off or is this normal for the bushes?...See MoreSoCalGardenNut
