Positioning of shower valve/diverter in a wet room

MS A

We are remodeling our master bathroom, and have a wet room which will have the toilet and a shower, separated by glass. The plumber placed the valve on the opposite wall from where the rain shower is, which seems to us kind of odd. The reasoning is that you do not have to get wet in order to turn on the shower. As these showers are larger than typical you cannot just reach in and turn the shower on. Aesthetically, I would prefer all the shower fixture to be located on the wall (on the left) from where shower arm is. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm attaching photos of the shower, with some captions.

This is wall opposite from where the shower arm will be installed. the width of the room, between those walls is about 75".
