Is a Crystal Schonbek Chandelier too much?

I own this chandelier and would like to use it but our new home has mid century modern furniture in the living and dining room. Is this chandelier too much? The floor is travertine and the dining room has a dark wood built in china cabinet. The table and sideboard are lighter wood. Thank you for any advice.

use it,

but keep the rest of the space simple so it is the wow in the room.

Can we see a picture of the room? While it could be a way to have a wonderful eclectic look, that is difficult to pull off and your description of the other things in the room makes me wonder if it will work in this instance. However, since you already own it it's worth a try. If people can see the other things already in the room they will have a better idea what they're commenting on.

Sapphire69, thanks for bringing up this topic. I use a weak solution of mild soap and water, rinse with clear water, and dry with a paper towel. Through all these years no harm done. The real PITA to me is the tiny individual wires which spread open here and there to catch the drying towel I am using. Microfiber cloths might help with that to reduce catching. For years I've puzzled over how to solve this problem -- glue the wire ends together? Use a tiny sodering iron? (Does one exist?) If someone could solve this problem I'd be forever grateful. Schoolhouse, zowie!!! that is some chandelier!!!! Love it, but I'd never want to be the one to clean that baby. I'll think of you the next time I'm tempted to grumble while cleaning mine. I also use vinegar/water/dish soap, but for sink washing, not dishwasher. You can easily get replacement pins and loops from the online places that sell chandelier parts. It's a bit of a bore to do, but they flex better than ones that have corroded, so it's easier to connect things, so IMHO it's worth it, besides looking better. You can find them in different finishes.

IMO just like too much cleavage can look tacky so can too much bling and in this case theDR and LR fixtures do not belong in the same house. The DR one IMO is a heavy looking fixture and needs a heavy looking very formal table . I never like center lighting in a LR and especailly a chandelier . IMO a open space requires so connection between the lighting so I would look at coordinating pieces in a small space let the DR fixture be the star and the rest the supporting cast.

so its all preference. personally i think it is fine but i also put a circlular chandeler above my rectange table (gasp). But I love it. the best way to figure out if it will bug you is to use painters tape on the top of your table. if it looks too small to you there, it will look too small hanging.

Absolutely use it and as stated above, keep a minimal feel so it has an intentionally showcased vibe. It will be amazing!

The unique styling of this chandelier is such I think it could work as you are suggesting. It isn’t the super drippy crystal style it’s more modern looking. As mentioned earlier keep everything simple and clean to not create distraction from it. It will be lovely!

I am from the mid-century myself, and our dining room boasted a gorgeous crystal chandelier as well as all Danish Modern furniture - and a Persian rug. Fabulous then, fabulous now. I say go for it!

I have a MCM home and a crystal chandelier and IMO it makes a real staement and not off at all. I think chandeleirs are like a dismond necklace it goes with anything Go for it you will love it
