Comments (23)The trick about using boiling soapy water to remove burned or gunky stuff *does* work with teflon, even old/scratched teflon. DH has a habit of fixing stuff with BBQ sauce over it, and then forgetting to turn the burner off -we are talking charcoaled, caramelized glop here. Fill pan with water to 1/2" from top edge, add a few drops dishwashing liquid (I use Palmolive green) and bring to a boil. The soapy water will really rise up, so keep an eye on it. Once it comes to a full boil, turn heat off (add boiling water to bring water level to the top of the pan if it's burnt or goopy to the top), put the lid on and let it sit a half-hour to an hour. Use a credit card or similar thin plastic edge to scrape off the thick stuff, and then wash as usual in the hottest possible water. The fabric softener (sheet or a few drops liquid) works fairly well in non-teflon pans. In all cases, the pan cleans fastest if treatment is started before the pan has cooled off....See MoreFixing gummy tung oil
Comments (7)I have been building furniture and restoring antiques for years using tung oil or tung oil varnish. I primarily use Old Masters Tung Oil Varnish. These are hand rubbed finishes that must thoroughly dry between coats. I rub out the finish between coats with 00 steel wool. Once dry and hard, it is a durable, non-oily finish that is water and alcohol resistant. It requires no wax as it really won't adhear to the surface and isn't necessary. Regarding the expensive Scandinavian brand, are your it was not Danish oil which is a altogether different product? I would do some testing in a small area to see what works to take of the sticky finish. Once it is removed, let the surface dry for 2 or 3 days before trying to recoat the surface and then try just a small area to see what happens....See MoreWhat's up with all of the gummy vitamins?
Comments (33)If your MD says you are deficient in some nutrient, try to eat more foods that contain that nutrient. (EAT, not consume as a liquid.) If that doesn't raise your levels adequately, ask your MD to recommend the dose and brand of supplement. Many supplements contain teeny amounts of the stated product --the maker doesn't want to be open to being sued if you have a bad reaction. There is no way to know the purity of a supplement -- or if it even is what it says it is. "More" of a supplement is useless if you don't need it or your body can't make us of it. You would need to consume some supplements in small doses throughout the day for your body to make use of them. That 300 mg pill at breakfast may be three times what your body can absorb; the rest is 'flushed'....See MoreCBD (Cannabidiol) oil
Comments (17)In Oregon marijuana is completely legal, and CBD is included. I've tried various remedies-I've smoked it (no or very low THC), tried edibles and tried topicals. I have had the best success with topicals, the edibles did nothing for me. Smoking it is ok, but it's very harsh on my lungs. It's been recommended to try it in a vape pen, which is not smoke but vapor. It does nothing for my arthritis pain, but it does do wonders for my fibromyalgia. I apply a cream to my back (or have DH do it for me) and it helps with my back pain. I also have a spray form that works wonders on my foot when my plantar fasciitis and tendonitis flare up. The spray works better on my foot than any where else. The spray I use has a minute amount of THC, I've been told it does not show up on drug tests-not that I worry about that! My stepfather was taken off 40 MG of Oxcycodone per day and replaced it with edibles and found it helped him tremendously. He had the kind with THC for bedtime and CBD only during the day. I also know another guy who was practically on morphine for pain relief who takes the oil and swears by it. A friend gives her dog a special dog blend CBD and her dog has no ill effects. I've heard that children who have seizures benefit tremendously from it and there was a huge concentration of people moving to Colorado after it was legalized to get their children on the medical forms of marijuana. Obviously the children don't smoke it....See More- 3 years agolast modified: 3 years ago
