Comments (6)chaparral (or any herb for that matter) should not be used continuously for any length of time anyway. use it as a small proportion of the formula....now and then go off it for a couple-few weeks (applies to any herb you take daily). for arthritis issues its hard to beat turmeric, a near panacea for arthritis and joint pain and inflammation in general. sounds like you have an herb store nearby...mix turmeric with either oregon grape or barberry root in equal parts by weight, powder together till very fine in a coffee grinder or something similar and make into a thick paste with honey. stir some of the paste into hot milk (avoid dairy milk if you have arthritis, almond or rice milk works fine) and drink a hot cup or two morning and night. this is an ancient ayurvedic remedy called golden milk, it has been used by yogis for millenia to increase flexibility of joints, ligaments and tendons to enable them to go deeper into yogic postures. start with 1 teaspoon 2x day and adjust dosage upward as needed to get relief....you should notice a difference within a week. a tablespoon or more 2x a day is not too much, can't overdose on this. again, remember to take a break from it now and then. be well!...See Morearthritis ???
Comments (21)There are supposedly 150 types of arthritis. I've had arthritis all of my life, runs in my family. I have found that fortified milk causes me problems. It isn't the milk, it is the Vit. D that the dairy industry adds to the milk. I am also affected by the deadly nightshade family. For instance, tomatoes cause me an arthritic flare-up within fifteen minutes of eating them. My pain and stiffness reduced significantly when I quit consuming Vit. D fortified milk and the vegetables which contain solinase (deadly nightshade family). I have found oil of mediterranean oregano capsules to be very helpful. The capsules must be cut with olive oil, 50/50 oil of oregano and olive oil. Pure oil of oregano is caustic. The price for this product varies widely. I am not sure if I am allowed to mention a brand name, but there is one which is significantly less expensive. (If anybody wants the brand name, I can send it in a private Email.) Exercise is very important. For me, consistency is the key. I need to keep up a routine. If I get less exercise than usual, I will have pain and stiffness. As one person mentioned, I do agree that refined sugar can increase arthritic symptoms. For some people, spinach causes problems--it doesn't bother me. For other people citrus fruit causes a bad reaction. I have found that I need to eat organic fruits and vegetables. For me, the chemicals used on conventionally grown produce trigger arthritic reaction....See MorePokeberry Wine for Arthritis
Comments (44)@lynnewithhim - I have used the berries and heard to start with 1 berry twice a day (2X), then 2 berries 2X etc until you find your personal level. I swallowed them whole (fresh or dried - whichever way I found them). I tried squishing a few seeds with a spoon and they are tough to break! Max dose depends on person (in the above pasted Corrine Wood article, it says up to 25 berries & max dose is when you start getting "spacy", Stephen Buhner indicates 5-10 drops 2X of root tincture for swollen lymph nodes) I've also heard (can't find where right off hand) that 1 berry, fresh or dried, is equivalent to 1 drop of root tincture so I started with berries while tincture is "brewing". I did feel like I had mental/thyroid fog at 6 berries 2X so I will be keeping below 5 berries or 5 drops 2X and I gave myself a rest after 10 days. It definitely helped a swollen lymph gland I've had for months plus it helps the random musical chair joint pains/arthritis I have from chronic Lyme. Regarding the poison aspect: I agree poke should be researched, but I am treating it like I do any OTC - eg: NSAIDS can also cause problems. I personally find fewer side effects with botanicals. NSAIDS did nothing for my aches and only upset my stomach. The statistics of side effects with correctly prescribed & correctly taken drugs seem a worse risk than poke, imo....See MoreHas anyone tried CBD oil for pain ?
Comments (76)Hubby and I both tried the oils CBD and THC and it didn't work for us. We wanted it for anxiety mostly and to help us sleep. He didn't have much pain, from his cancer so that wasn't an issue. I didn't like the taste of it......tastes strongly of a pine tree. I'd put a few drops in a drink, hubby put a few drops under his tongue----the preferred method. My brother has pain in his knees and I gave the rest of the oil to him. Didn't help him either. One time I took a few drops, when I hadn't taken it for a while. You're supposed to go into it gradually.....start with 2 drops and work your way up over a period of time. I put my usual 5 drops in my drink and I was bouncing off the walls going to bed, the room was spinning, I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke or something. I laid in bed and the room was spinning there too. Wow, if that's a good time, people that take this stuff can have it. I hated it, and was terrified. I hate not having control of my body and mind....See Moreeld6161
