I usually just get inventive, usually discovering odd things that go together (or sometimes come up with what has been called ”stoner food” but no stoned involved). A lot of recipe apps will do that for you, but are most useful if you enter your pantry contents as well. Like Rho said, often a web search for the few specific ingredients will do the trick. I've found I like the recipes from big, but not highly commercialized, blogs to be really good. Often better than what's in my cookbooks.

I agree searching for specific ingredients can provide plenty of ideas.

I knew I'd remember eventually. Epicurious has “advanced search” where you can check off ingredients, mostly basic proteins and very basic vegetables (or search by cuisine or meal type or others), and it'll say how many recipes it found at the bottom without having to run the search, and Epicurious recipes are more reliable than many on the ’net. https://www.epicurious.com/search

ChatGPT will also come up with recipes for the ingredients you have. However, use it with caution. I’ve read that while the drinks recipes are pretty good, the food recipes are a little more iffy.

ROTFLOL!!! I don't think ChatGPT has flavor receptors. There was that one guy who made it well into the contest on Top Chef, with post-Covid inability to taste, but he had enough experience to wing it, and did get colleagues to taste... There are an awful lot of awful recipes on the ’net, and the poor thing doesn't have a way to tell the difference, even if it looks at reviews. Oh, my! Thank-you for the guffaws!

Seriously, fish and chips on a weeknight isn’t bad. Besides any site with a search function that works should be able to parse recipes according to ingredients.

I used to search on "Eating Well's" web site, www.eatingwell.com. I have so many recipes saved that now I usually try to find something in my files . . . trying to purge them a bit. I'm more likely to peruse the recipe file when making out my shopping list than right before dinner. I have also been into the "Forks Over Knives" magazines which are basically a collection of recipes with splashy photos. But there are similar magazines for meat eaters and all kinds of cuisine. And frankly, I love spending some time with some of my good old fashioned cookbooks.
