Living in the the countryside 6 mi. from a village (12 - 15 from the city) without a car for a year and a half and city bus coming just to the village ... I tip my hat to that Walmart delivery guy! But he may be less able to get so loaded, if you'll pardon the expression, when he gets to 80+. I've found when hitchhiking home with a load of groceries after leaving the bus in the village that many go beyond their destination or out of their way to bring my haul to my door. When I offer some payment from my substantial savings by not operating a car for a year, some accept but many refuse ... so I repeat the offer, asking them to give the money to church or charity, which some accept. I am rather surprised that more than half of the persons giving me rides are female, (seldom of the youngish variety, understandably). ole joyful (forgot that, unless I push "space", the most recent word disappears, in this zzuoH territory, so needed to reproduce joyful-ly - adding one more punch! )

Back in the day, we had an orange tabby and so did our neighbor. Both Toms. They barely tolerated each other. But in the winter, they would climb the tree next to our house, get up on our roof and each cuddle up on one side of the chimney or the other. One day, a neighbor asked us if the cats on our roof were ceramic. My Mom said no, they're real. The neighbor said, "Oh good. I couldn't imagine who'd keep climbing up on the roof to move them!"
