Living in the the countryside 6 mi. from a village (12 - 15 from the city) without a car for a year and a half and city bus coming just to the village ... I tip my hat to that Walmart delivery guy! But he may be less able to get so loaded, if you'll pardon the expression, when he gets to 80+. I've found when hitchhiking home with a load of groceries after leaving the bus in the village that many go beyond their destination or out of their way to bring my haul to my door. When I offer some payment from my substantial savings by not operating a car for a year, some accept but many refuse ... so I repeat the offer, asking them to give the money to church or charity, which some accept. I am rather surprised that more than half of the persons giving me rides are female, (seldom of the youngish variety, understandably). ole joyful (forgot that, unless I push "space", the most recent word disappears, in this zzuoH territory, so needed to reproduce joyful-ly - adding one more punch! )

WRT Annie's opening post, we told our then small DD that if we ever needed to send someone else to collect her, even if it was someone she knew, they would say, "[Cat's Name] sent me to get you," so she would know they were legit.

Father's Day gift from daughter. From the time she was very young we have been 'Maw' and 'Paw' so to find this card really delighted her. The inside reads, "Because your such a good boy" HAPPY FATHERS DAY!! The little block of wood with it really said it all!
