Bathrooms Storage & Closet Design Dilemma

Florida bathroom has a very large closet, keep as closet? built in?

We’re doing a refresh remodel on our primary bathroom in a Florida home. Decided to forego a tub since we wouldn’t use one.
Pics 3 and 4 show the existing closet the previous owners had (we’ve removed the doors ). There isn’t a way to ventilate the closet using the existing hvac system. Want the closet to be something more than wire shelves.

Anyone tackled this sort of project before? Should we keep it as a closet or do a built in cabinet?

Do you need that large closet? Your current shower looks very small. If you don’t need the big closet, I would install a new luxury shower and then make the rest of the space a linen closet. If you’re going to remodel the bathroom, go for it and make a beautiful bathroom.

What is on the other side of the closet? Perhaps it can be added to that space.

I agree with Cpartist"s layout and like moving the closet over as suggested by D M so that bedroom 3 has easier access to the bathroom. Do you have room to have the toilet face the tub and add a linen cabinet next to the toilet? How wide is the tub toilet area?

Thanks. I was planning on the supports for grab bars, but hadn't gotten around to learning about it yet. Bracing 36" off the floor....horizontally...where I want the grab bars, right? Plus, where I will have the hand shower sliding bar and beside the doors the braces will go vertically. Hopefully, the plumber will show up today. I have been calling plumbers since April. One finally answered his phone! It is unbelievable how busy they are with that high dollar lake development going on. Bruce, how do you like living in Northern Virginia? We are thinking of moving when this house is finished. The heat is southeast Oklahoma is as bad as south Texas and Florida heat,and almost as bad as Arizona heat. Our humidity is unbelievable. 112° Heat factor and we get no winters now. I have been looking at the Charlottesville area. I am looking for 4 seasons. Virginia Beach is pretty nice, but hurricanes....

I honestly don't understand the gas chamber mantra that gets tossed around here. We are physiologically designed to be more sensitive to and more disgusted by the waste of other people than our own. So anytime a person is forced to occupy a space that recently contained someone else's waste it is unpleasant for them. The best way to make it more pleasant is to limit the time any person might have to spend in a room where someone else's waste has recently been. The easiest ways to do that is to limit the purposes of the room used for waste or schedule waste activities so there is no overlap. Increasing the space to dilute the odors doesn't really work that well. If you don't believe me, take a walk near a cow pasture.

We are in the process of planning a bathroom addition. Using an unused closed-in porch. The bathroom will be about 7x11. I have most of the stuff picked out. tub with shower surround, toilet, lighted LED mirror, vanity (dark gray with marble top). I have to pick the floor tile yet and paint color. In our current bathroom we had sliding, mirrored shower doors on the bathtub/shower. I HATED them. I hated everything about them, but especially cleaning the tracks. We finally got rid of them and have a shower curtain with fabric shower curtain liner. Opted for fabric liner so it can be washed in the washing machine. I personally would not have shower doors. I agree with some comments that the floor might be a tad dark but it's very pretty. Maybe use that floor but not black linen closet doors. Maybe make them the same color as the vanity base or the wall. It is going to look great!

Yes, re-purpose it. I have no idea why someone would put a closet of that size in a bathroom.

The other side of the wall is a very large bedroom. The shower is actually very large as well, just doesn’t show in the photos.

It looks like a very standard six or eight foot closet. What you DO with it depends how you want it to look and what you plan to store!

Do you want a beautiful make up area? How wide would you want it? Four feet? Five? What if it had drawers, a pretty chair, a big mirror..... sconces? A place for everything from a hair dryer to lipstick?

Do you need linen storage? Would you want all your work out clothes in one place? DO YOU NEED more space for every day clothing?

Nobody can answer a design........until you provide a P.U.R.P.O.S.E: )

Before any of that? Ask yourself if you love the bath on whole. The size of the shower......all of it: )

There's a big difference between "refresh" and remodel. First is consider the whole.

I need more info a to scale floor plan and I see no plans here . Post in a comment with all measurements clearly marked . I dislike huge bathrooms so I would happily add that space to a room where a nice bigger closet might ge helpful With no info pretty hard to help. I see not large shower just ba tiny one with solid walls .I agree a refresh not at all the smae as a redo and always function first.
