Looking for Rat Tail Radish and Husk Cherry seeds
Comments (1)Johnny's Selected Seeds offers the husk cherry seeds and Reimer's Seeds as well as Kitchen Garden Seeds offer rat tail radish seeds. You can also find both offered by several seed vendors on both eBay and Amazon. The Exchanges board was created just so that we don't end up with all sorts of trade lists and WANTS posted here on the discussion board. It used to be over-run with trades. So as long as you have posted on the Exchanges you are covered. ;) Dave...See MoreWANTED: Naturtium, Rat-Tail radish

Comments (9)because my area is packed with deer and rabbits this year i tried the impatiens for the first time and, guess what, neither of the 2 have touched them. however, since everything around here gets pulled, eaten and killed, the day i planted my 2 flats. i sprayed on the soil, not the plants eliminator ant, flea and tick killer granules. it sounds crazy but nothing got closed to the plants for almost a month giving them enough time to "take". repeated treatment after a month. they are still doing great. my big question now is whether am going to be able to obtain the same results by planting the seeds for the surrounding areas...See MoreRed Rat's Tail Radish, anyone growing this?
Comments (5)It's a radish plant grown only for the seed pods, not to pull for the root. I think it is fun to grow. I like the pods but only as a snack, I pick off a few pods and eat them immediately. Mild radish taste with a little spice that kicks in when you chew them up. Pods are best younger when the seeds start to form, once they grow full length they are tough. The plants can be tremendously productive if you keep picking them, and if the plant stays alive. They gradually grow pods over time. I've had over 100 pods from a plant, way more than I can eat. You don't need to grow more than 3 plants IMO, very productive. Sometimes the plant continues to grow new branches all summer,. I plant them more than a foot apart, the tops get floppy eventually and do not grow in a tidy fashion. I try to support them some. Start out as a nice looking plant with flowers that attract pollinators, but gets rather messy after a couple months. You can start them in cooler weather, but the plants flower and pods grow in warm weather. I've not tried the newest Baker Creek rattail, this is different than the one they had a few years ago. I've had good success with the Burpee 'Dragon's Tail'...See MoreOladon
