How to remove deeply embedded drywall compound from vinyl floor?

Thank you in advance for your help. Our former contractor decided to put the floor down and then do all of the drywall installation and work, in the remodeling our basement. The luxury vinyl Cortex/ Shaw that I used now has all this white material embedded in its very fine grain and texture. I can make it look somewhat nice by mopping it over and over again, but I cannot seem to remove all of the white material that is embedded in the grain. I've used firm brushes, softer brushes, renting hardwood floor cleaners, but nothing seems to be very effective. Is there a product that will dissolve this drywall compound so I can just mop it up? Do I have to let the water soak for a while? I've been letting it at times soak for up to 20 minutes and it doesn't seem to work very efficiently. Using Dove soap and rubbing alcohol seems to help but it doesn't get all of it out. The area is about 2,000 ft so it's a big area, and I am making little to no progress. Thank you in advance for your help.
