I just have a city lot, my front bed is small and I cram a lot into it, the pots are pot to pot. The back yard has a big iris bed approx. 40' x 8' and a couple of other beds mixed with irises and daylilies, nothing spectacular. I am proud of my 3 bald cypress trees, they have light and airy leaves. I also have about 20 crepe myrtles which bloom in the summer or June. I just line my pots up everywhere in the back LOL I hope the rain stops today because I have company coming tomorrow from out of town and want it to look nice. Somehow soggy flowers don't look too appealing. Can't really complain about the rain though because we needed it so bad. Dot

Thanks for all your responses! It looks like the issue has resolved itself, as my cat is now drinking normally out of the stainless steel bowl. I think maybe because everything was new to him, including the bowl, that he was hesitant. Just to address some of the posts here, there was no detergent used in the bowls, and since he came from this area, I don't think the tap water was strange to him. Also, he's only eating dry food, so he is thirsty. Actually I am trying to get him to eat canned as well, but he keeps refusing it, despite my mixing a tiny bit with his dry food, or putting a tiny bit on my finger and letting him smell it, or warming it, or any of the tricks that are supposed to get a cat to eat canned food. I'll keep trying, since I think a cat should have both canned and dry food in his diet. And yes, he LOVES drinking straight from the tap! I turned on the faucet in the bathroom sink, and he immediately jumped up and started drinking from it without hesitation. Makes me wonder where he lived before, since he clearly was familiar with drinking straight from the tap. I'll never know though. Don't you wish they could talk and tell us where they've been?

You understood me exactly right, four. It would be better for palamedes swallowtails if they'd lay at least part of their eggs on sassafras, which, so far, hasn't suffered from the red bay disease. The two cats in the picture both ate a LOT of sassafras, pupated, and made perfect palamedes swallowtails, one male and one female. I've known for a long time that palamedes cats would gladly eat sassafras, but I've never found any palamedes eggs or cats on sassafras, so the females apparently don't consider it for egg laying, at least so far. Unfortunately, I've seen very few palamedes swallowtail adults since those two emerged. I saw one a couple of weeks ago, and I think I saw one crossing the road today. I've looked on the redbay regrowth at the base of the dead trees and haven't found any eggs or cats. I found a spicebush cat on some sassafras in my garden, but it's definitely a spicebush cat. i am not familiar with room and board as we don't have a store near us. we have 3 cats and just got a Bassett chair and sectional. the sectional has Microdenier Dimensional Weave Dove / Fabric # 1541-19 / 100% Polyester, and the chair has Dimensional Chenille Linen / Fabric # 6405-1/ 100% Polyester. i tested so many fabrics out before purchasing, as our cats have sharp claws, yet the velvet tippled the sectional cost, although it seemed to test the best. Surprisingly, the chenille holds up better than the micro denier, which now has a few kitty cat pulls so the sectional seats are covered with soft blankets to prevent damage. although microfiber may be the 'cheaper' material, our microfiber old sofa and loveseat held up 99% of ALL scratchings, stretchings, etc. Stay away from linens and anything with large weaves/loops.
