Boophane sources.....anybody have any good ones??
Comments (20)Hi Norma, I'm afriad that I am not as well-connected as you!!! Jerry Wright (from Caudex above) did give me a name in South Africa and I contacted them and they do have the Boophane sp. 'Port Elizabeth' that I am looking for.....he needs to send pics to confirm, but this is one of the species with very frilly, blue glaucous leaves if he and I are on the same page. If it works out I will import a half-dozen of those and he also has some very rare, super dwarf Brunsvigia that I will get for myself. Obviously, if these are of any interest to you I can get some imported for you as well....just let me know off-line and once I find out the prices, etc. I can let you know :o) Dan...See Moreway OT but have to share good news!!!!
Comments (11)Congratulations Gill. Grandkids are wonderful. Mine help me pick up leaves in the garden and in return I dig the sand forts at the beach. also, unlike your own children, when you have had enough you give them back. And-- they don't get root rot. Enjoy your trip. Congrats again. Bill...See MoreLOOKING for: Your best pound cake recipe....
Comments (34)I'm a simple cook. To be in my "favorites" file, it has to be easy, economical, and not require me to run to the store. For years I have used the "Hot Milk Sponge Cake" recipe in my old Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. I noticed they've posted it on AllRecipes.com but they never allow anyone to give credit to the original printing of it. Here's the link to that recipe. Leave off the last three ingredients and the fifth level of instructions if you don't want to use the frosting. That was not part of the original recipe and probably something they threw in. I never frost this cake. I usually bake it especially to serve with strawberries and vanilla ice cream, but DH in in the habit of eating up the cake before the strawberries are gone so I have to make extra. So, OK, I know a sponge cake is not a pound cake, because historically a pound cake gets its name from the fact that it calls for a pound of butter, a pound of sugar, a pound of flour.... but we actually like this better because it's not so high in fat. And when I serve it to guests, they always compliment me on my delicious "pound cake". --Ilene...See MoreMushrooms
Comments (7)I love portabella mushrooms. You can make a healthy delicious veggie burger with them. First, make a mint sauce by blending together Greek-style yogurt, fresh mint leaves, garlic and a little Feta. Then clean the gills off the portabella mushrooms, grill the caps lightly in olive oil, salt, pepper, basil, balsamic vinegar and maybe a tiny bit of dried chili powder. Spread the mint sauce on soft buns, Slap on some fresh mozzarella, place the mushrooms on there, end it with a slice of fresh avocado and youre done....See More- 3 years ago
