What color to paint a rental townhome?
Comments (23)SW's Navajo White is really my favorite "off-white" of all - it is a definite misnomer to call it "white". It's not quite tan/beige, not quite white. If I had to do off-white anywhere ever again it would be that one (although I'm a color ho so it's unlikely I will!). Yes, Extra White is exactly the kind of white I was suggesting for trim, just plain stock white. Whether it will hold up on kitchen cabinets depends on what specific paint you use much more than on the color. Prep well and use a good quality paint and it will hold up better than if you don't prep and use junk paint. Remember not to be pennywise and pound-foolish - spending a little extra for a more durable paint now may mean not having to do a complete repaint in between every tenant but rather just a wash-down and some touch-ups. One of the good things about choosing stock colors like Super White and Navajo White is that you can get it by the 5-gallon bucket which does save you some money. The painter I hired for the last house preferred to use SW; he thought SuperPaint was the best paint but considered ProMar 200 to be a good paint as well and it is cheaper. ProMar 700 is total garbage, ProMar 400 is mediocre and not so much cheaper than the ProMar 200. If you have to squeeze every penny until Lincoln screams, spend your money on the trim/cabinet paint and go cheaper with the walls because painting trim is a PITA....See MoreModernize dated kitchen in townhome - please help!
Comments (61)Hmm, the island is an option. I have a toddler just waiting to get his hands on the buttons or anything he can reach so I’ll probably do a set of cabinets on the opposite wall for micro and some space for appliances. it will be a big project but I can’t think of anything else....See MoreNeed help/advice on exterior paint, windows and garage doors
Comments (0)Front of house - from the street Back of house - this shows all three windows going on ... original gray on left new black french door 3 year old white picture windows Front door - this is on the side of the house and can't be seen from the street I'm a first time home owner in Denver, CO. My house was hit by a hailstorm and I'm having to make big decisions quickly. I really don't want to screw up - a lot of these decision will have to last 10+ years and each decision might influence the others. I'm very excited not to have a pink house much longer! I'm leaning towards a creamy white with black accents and wood-looking garage doors? Here's what's going on: - the roof has already been replaced and I went with a dark charcoal shingle. From the street you can't really see my roof - New Milgard French Doors were installed in the back. The exterior is black and somewhat modern - There are two big picture windows that are newish - they are white. The 2nd photo shows both - I just bought two black barn lights to over the garage doors - https://www.lampsplus.com/products/warehouse-10-inch-high-black-gooseneck-outdoor-wall-light__9c417.html Problems: - the front of the house is all garage, so the garage doors are very important. Right now they are basic white. - there's no front porch and you can't see the front door to paint it a fun color. - there's not much architectural interest to the house. Will white be too bland? - the windows in the front don't have enough space to put shutters on Decisions I need to make: - exterior paint color - garage doors. It will probably be a couple years before I can afford new ones, but I want to paint my house with new ones in mind. - windows - black or white? I love my new black French doors and I was thinking of getting black windows, but they're much more expensive. Much more. I appreciate any and all help and feedback! Comments (7)One color which looks great in a space with both North and South light is yellow and yellow will work with your gray couch. #1. B.M. Hawthorne Yellow #2 B.M. Secluded Beach #3. B.M. Goldtone #1 is a commitment, but used with lots of white trim and ceilings and blue, it is a winner and will keep you smiling all day (a dark blue/navy). #2 is warmer and the inspiration photo I found shows a cozy room. Add another warm color for accents, and the room will look like a jewel (the coral tone in photo is a good example). #3 is considered an off-white and is the softest of the three. Notice in the photo, that the designer had everything painted gold tone, a bit more sophisticated, and neutral. Did this help you at all?...See Morechispa
