Heirloom Garden Bed all from Heirloom Roses
Comments (11)Rita, your bed looks very pretty and healthy. I am very pleased with my Heirloom bands this year. Last year or the year before - I was not. There was a post a couple of weeks ago on the subject of Heirloom bands and I posted a picture of my little thriving pots. Here they are a couple of weeks later, still doing wonderfully: The only one that is doing less than spectacularly is Welsh Gold; it's a little sluggish so far. Some of these are Clement's intros: Desiree Magnificent Perfume Distant Thunder Sunrise at Heirloom and I have a Will O' The Wisp that I got last year and it is finally getting some size to it. Do you have any of these and if you do, how are they doing for you? Lynn...See Moreheirloom roses wanting to know how many people want peach silk!
Comments (33)Hey bayou rose! I have no idea if it can be grown as a bush. I saw someone's pic earlier in the year and when I contacted Heirloom I thought after I told them I knew of about ten people who wanted it that they said they'd get it back in production. Now they say 25. Grrrrrr. Now I don't know what will happen. If anyone wants one they need to contact Heirloom and ask for Linda!!! Thanks y'all!!!...See Morelate season bloom boost
Comments (4)The mix was a disappointment in that the drainage was not great - retained too much moisture. I have been using the tomato plant food from miracle-gro to supplement the plants. Is there anything I can do to stop the drop and/or encourage more blooming? Water problems: get a moisture meter and learn how to use it. Water when the soil needs it, not when the calendar says it's time. Don't over fertilize: it leads to lush leafy grown and fewer peppers. What is in the "miracle-gro raised bed mix"? It sounds like it's meant to have a lot of slow-release stuff, and peppers are not heavy feeders....See MoreGot my heirloom roses rose
Comments (15)I know its not a lot of roses compared to many on here, but its crazy to me how many I planted. I brought a few from my old house, but then when I had a blank slate of a backyard, I went overboard. Its an illness! I also have a ton of daylilies, most of which were moved from my last house. I count on my roses dying mostly to the ground as it keeps them smaller so I can pack more plants in. As long as they come up and get rocking so that they bloom a lot, I dont mind that they aren't huge. I did get some hardier ones this year to attempt to have a few that might not die to the ground. I bought my Alfred Sisley at home depot last year in a pretty big size. It looked own root, but I'm not positive. It performed amazing last summer and is beautiful. Its looking good so far, so I'm hopeful for it. Heres the only photo I can find. One of the blooms is fresh, the others are old already....See MoreSoCalGardenNut
