Your thoughts on our kitchen plans?
Comments (8)We like the idea of putting french doors in the back/full bathroom but are concerned about the radiator that is built into the back wall (under the 2 windows). We would have to take it out entirely to put in any kind of doors. Thoughts? We also noticed the placement of the dishwasher perpendicular to the sink but were told there would be enough clearance ( I will get my boyfriend to post the measurements soon so you can tell us what you think). In thinking of alternate placements for a dishwasher, we have also considered the spot to the right of the sink at the front of the kitchen (if you are standing at the sink washing dishes) but there would only be room for a mini-dishwasher. What are your ideas, folks?...See MoreThoughts on my kitchen floorplan? Thanks.
Comments (34)The space between fridge and oven would likely not be used for making a snack (and if I’m making dinner, better nobody be making any snack!) because thought some food is in the fridge, everything else will be in the island: plate, spreader, crackers, etc. The space between would hold a cookie jar, maybe some pretty serving trays, and the hot pads and trivets. Maybe the tea if you make tea only occasionally, else that would be in the pantry. Do people notice the fridge, wherever it is In the kitchen? Other than “oh, there’s the beer”? I‘d also suggested moving the pantry entry to share a beam of light from front of house to kitchen sink window, and make a direct path from the kitchen aisle. See the picture Trish showed just above. Does that make any sense? I thought it made for flow, better connection between pantry and kitchen....See MoreLooking for peoples thoughts on Mantra Kitchen Cabinet
Comments (0)I’m considering installing Mantra cabinets for my 12x12 kitchen. Has anyone gone ahead and installed Mantra and could you share pictures and your thoughts? I’m looking at the white painted shaker style cabinets. Maple wood, dovetail drawers, plywood box construction, 3/4 thick shelves. The center panel is MDF due to painted doors but the rest of the door is birch....See MoreThoughts on this kitchen sink shape?
Comments (29)“How often do you folks use roasting pans?” @RNmomof2 zone 5 - it’s not just roasting pans. That pan is used as an example when talking about sinks, but it’s any kind of large cookware like cookie sheets, sheet pans and casserole pans. I have 9x13 and 10x16 rectangular casserole pans used several times a week - for example, lasagna, manicotti, roasted root vegetables, also sweets like sheet cake, apple french toast casserole for brunch, cake that you roll into a log - these all need large pans. Then there’s my 7-1/2 qt Le Creuset (weighs a ton) for soups, stews, meatballs, and roasting chicken. There’s also just a regular frying pan - even that would not fit in the sink bowls the OP has pictured. Almost every night I have some kind of big pan I need to wash in my sink. I can do that and still have space in my single-bowl sink for other items. A double bowl sink with divider does not work for me, and a 50-50 sink would make me loony....See MoreToni Hamlett
