Help with curtains/window size/how many grilles?
Comments (2)Tracie Your concerns regarding balance are valid. In order to address them there are a number of issues: What are the other sizes of windows on this side of the house? What is the configuration of the windows? What type of replacement windows are you using - are they close to the original design, material? For me the exterior should be the first consideration that drives the decision, the interior 2nd. Looking at windows of homes IRL is also helpful. For example my home has 6/1 configuration windows are roughly 30" wide by 53" long - putting a huge window would throw the entire exterior balance off - additionally replacing the 80 yr old windows with vinyl would total detract from the exterior Taking a picture of the exterior of your home is beneficial in determining what will work....See MoreSuggestions for Window Grill Size?
Comments (11)Thank you all for all your helpful insights. Rweigand, I've gotten the same comment about the 4/1 from several different people, and I see what you mean about the horizontal shape. Originally, the architect had 6/1, but I asked him to change them, as I like simpler styles. We are doing double-hung Windows, so I'm not sure 3/1 or 2/1 would work. Are 4/1s usually used more when the 4 lites are squares--not rectangular?...See MoreNeed Help w/ Window Grill Layout
Comments (2)You first choice is the best. This house has six over one in all of the double hung window, but not for the casements. It looks right. But here is an example of no grids on the lower level of the picture windows. Interesting!...See MoreShould window and door grill sizes match?
Comments (1)Are these Simulated Divided Lites? Grilles between the glass? Exterior Grids only? Is there a profile to them? Do you have an elevation showing the relationship between the windows and doors?...See MoreCatherine Pakosta
