How much to update bathrooms?
Comments (6)Ok, it's not for me. It's for a friend of mine who was injured in an accident and is in rehab.. he may have to sell his apartment to pay his bills.. realtor is saying not to fix up bathrooms, but is deducting a price from the selling price.. he thinks price is way off, I thought someone here may know. Obviously, I was wrong. And, yes, I did look up Home Depot.. not sure on labor though... I would guess that would be the bulk of it. I may try the babysitting forum and ask there since there is such a wealth of info here. They'd at least take a stab. Thanks again for all your help....... ps.. I thought I said cheap. I know you 'can' buy expensive stuff; I thought I was pretty clear about not spending a lot. Obviously, I guess not. And, by the way, for anyone else out there who may want to know. I found some info online I think it was at this old house webiste. It mentioned some figures about $1800 for cheaper updates. Other places I looked suggested $4000 or so but I think included more tile work. If you need to go even cheaper, try craiglist to buy your stuff. Funny, how I can give a rough estimate and have never done any bathroom work in my life. Again, everyone, thanks for your help....See MoreHow would you update this bathroom?
Comments (6)IMO nothing special about the 70s stlye so staying true to that era would be my last thought.IMO those cabinets are a good example of really awful design and color with that awesome ceiling . Bathrooms need good lighting just like kitchens IMO and not some chandelier bulbs that light nothing . I would gut that area and redesign the cabinets with no drop down area no cabinet sitting on the counter so nice simple high gloss cabinets with no framed mirrors good bar lighting that lights the area where you need to see. Unless you are planning new floors wou will need to make sure the new cabinets work with the tile for layout. I often use automotive paint to get a color that works for cabinets and that great gloss finish....See MoreEasy bathroom updates for green bathroom?
Comments (18)I like the open vanity so that you can see the floor beneath it. It makes the room feel bigger than it is. I would just lighten it up with white paint and a new white countertop. I’d also hang pretty curtains, possibly cafe curtains, so that you have privacy but still have light coming in. I’d hang canvas art above the toilet with an image you love to look at to give the room some of your personality. I’d paint the walls white and use white curtains to bounce the maximum amount of light around the room....See MoreHow would you update my bathroom?
Comments (10)I would paint the vanity a deep blue/gray or a deep green/gray. White countertop. Artwork above the toilet. Walls white with a hint of either the blue or green you chose for the vanity. And yes, replace the shower doors. If you prefer a more contemporary look, I'd also consider replacing the sink faucet...See Moredeegw
