Andersen Renewal vs. Andersen Woodwright
Comments (4)I'm not sure on the price comparison, but Anderson owns a company named Eagle, and I think it is Anderson's "luxury home" product line. However, we've had clients request pricing from Anderson in the past, and we didn't notice a big difference. However, this was only on a few occasions in the past 5 years, so things may have changed. Eagle, Kolbe and Marvin all build fairly comparable products in their upper-end product lines. Unless I'm mistaken, they all utilize extruded aluminum in their construction. This differs substantially from Anderson's vinyl extrusion and Pella's roll-formed aluminum. Remember, this cladding material is designed to protect the wood beneath it and is therefore very important. It is my opinion that unless it is extruded aluminum and using proper extrusion joinery, you'd be better off with an all wood window and keeping up on the maintenance....See MoreAndersen Renewal vs Starmark Windows
Comments (20)Thanks for your response. Yes, I was going to have a color coating on the exterior, and I don't foresee needing to remove them except for cleaning, (although we do go out one bedroom window that is on a sloped roof area to put up Christmas lights and to clean a gutter). Because they would be exposed all year, I thought that cleaning them yearly might be a good idea, and that I would want to be able to take them out and reinstall them without a problem. Is the color on the exterior color coating somewhat susceptible to wearing off with time due to the elements?...See MoreRe-use/Re-install Andersen Renewals in renovation?
Comments (8)I am sure they can rebuild some jamb extensions and a box if need be, but your carpenter will probably want to just order new at this point. By the time that you save on the carpentry work, it might be close to a wash depending on what they are charging you per unit for the work....See MoreWhat do you think of Andersen Renewal windows & doors?
Comments (19)In 2020 we purchased Andersen Renewal windows for 2 large double hung in the front of our house and a big 3 window large picture window. Loved it. The cost $9k Covid has stopped us from completing all the other windows. We just had a Rep give us his estimate for double hung 9 and it's over $20k. That was with a discount, it was $26k with no discount. We almost fainted. Is there something happening in the window world that we are not aware of? Naturally, at our ages, we won't be buying Renewal by Andersen. Now we have to search for replacement windows that are quality. Does that exist? There is so much negativity about vinyl and owners are getting rid of them in my neck of the woods. Right now, it feels like we will be looking for a needle in the haystack. Our budget was $15k and boy, were we naive or the prices at Renewal have been increased. It ues to be the double hung were $1500 each. But now they're closer to $3k....See MoreMiranda33
