Calif bay area, zone 10ish.

This is a mail-order orange tree (Midknight Valencia, semi-dwarf) in the ground a few months. It's had some terrible weather (HOT, cold, rain, crazy wind) since being planted but seems alright, just not doing much. It finally has new growth. It's very low and I think it is above the graft so I should let it grow (at least until some thing grows in above it). Is that swooshy scar the graft and the new growth above it worth keeping? Thanks!!
