I went in search of fruit tamales and found pumpkin tamales which sound delicious. I may have to make a batch. I will use fresh pumpkin. Pumpkins are in the stores now. Eileen Pumpkin Pie Tamales makes 40-60 tamales by George Duran for IMUSA USA _____ 40-60 dried corn husks 7 cups Maseca corn flour 2 cups packed brown sugar 2 tsp cinnamon 2 tsp salt 2 tsp ginger 1 tsp ground cloves 1 tsp nutmeg 2 - 29 ounce cans of pumpkin puree 4 sticks of butter, melted 2 cups of warm water or milk ( i used milk) 2 cups of walnuts, chopped (i used pecans) 2 cups raisins queso fresco (optional) __________ Fill a large bowl with warm water and soak corn husks until softened about 30 minutes. In an extra large bowl add Maseca corn flour and the rest of the dry ingredients. Mix together making sure that all of the clumps are broken up with your fingers. Then add all of the wet ingredients and once again, use your hands to mix. Add water or milk as needed until your reach the consistency of peanut butter. Fold in the walnuts and raisins. Assemble the tamales by using a rubber spatula to spread 1/2 cup to 1 cup of the dough mixture onto the corn husk, depending the size of the corn husk. The spread should cover about two thirds of the corn husk, away from the pointed end, making sure you leave some space on each side to fold. Gently fold one side of the corn husk to the other end and fold up the pointed end across. Lay each tamale fold-side down. There should be an open end to each tamale. Once the tamales are folded fill a 24 qt steamer with the tamales adding enough water as need for your steamer. carefully place each tamale standing up on the steam tray of the rack without overloading it and bring water to a simmer. Steam with the lid on for 90 minutes. Remove each tamale with tongs and let rest for a few minutes before serving it as a sweet side-dish or grated with queso fresco. I wish I were aware of the new law before I ordered my bathroom faucets for my kids' bath remodel. I am not in California, but I am concerned about lead in my house. If you google California AB1953 and a faucet brand name, those styles that are compliant will pop up. I already got Grohe Eurosmart. That style doesn't show up as being compliant [as of this writing], but Grohe's Veris bath faucet and tub spout are compliant.

I support the intent of Proposition 65, but that doesn't mean that just because a compound is present in a product then all uses of the product are dangerous. For example, it's one thing to continually drink hot water from water pipes and/or fixtures that contain lead; it's another thing to shower in it. The intent of Proposition 65 is to alert people that certain products contain certain harmful components (which is good) so they can make individual decisions about exposure and risk...which most people aren't equipped to do. An inability to know how to interpret the warning can mean people are fearful of anything to do with a product when, in fact, proper use of it may pose absolutely zero risk. If vinyl asbestos tile were still being produced it would deservedly carry a Proposition 65 warning even though it is safe to have in your home -- as many millions of people do -- as long as you don't decide to do something stupid, like remove it with a floor sander. There's a proposition 65 warning on gasoline, and I try to avoid inhaling fumes when gassing up my car, but I haven't stopped going to the gas station (nor do I think it will give me cancer). What this thread illustrates is that we pretty much all agree certain materials are harmful, but we don't agree that just because they are present in some trivial quantity it constitutes a risk. A basic tenet of risk assessment is to look at paths of exposure: just because something is present doesn't mean you are being exposed to that material in a way that poses a meaningful risk. So, for me, the fact that something has a Proposition 65 warning may be useful info, but the next question is what does that really mean? And more specifically, it doesn't tell me that a shower hose with a Proposition 65 warning poses a risk if all I use it for is showering.

I hate to burst your bubble Patricia, but prop 65 warnings have nothing to do with cheap vs quality, or imported vs domestic. It has to do with the libtard politicians adding the label to everything and anything sold in this once great state. We can’t even buy real mineral spirits orTSP anymore! Now they want to outlaw natural gas ranges! For gosh sakes, the warning is on bread because if you burn your toast and eat it, the black carbonized crumbs contain a chemical that can cause cancer if eaten in humongous quantities! That is why we don’t pay any attention to the labels. I have not looked at a single set of dishes that didn’t have the warnings. And the more expensive, the worse they are for you! It’s completely out of Hand!
