My first roses at my new house

I moved into my house a year ago. Last fall, I had the crabgrass filled strip along my driveway torn out, filled with nice topsoil with humus, and fenced on one side with the very homey white picket fence. Then I planted a dozen different hybrid teas. And in the back yard, I mounted some trellis in back of some raised cedar beds, next to my large garden shed. Here's the results so far. Still waiting for a photogenic bloom from Strike It Rich, Tropicana, Julia Child, Touch of Class, Sol Desire, Tropical Skies, and Chicago Peace. The culprit responsible for any little holes in leaves has been addressed with triple action granules.

The first has bloomed now, and I've posted pictures. I'm doing a time lapse video of these growing, so I think I have the light too far away to accommodate the cameras. They are under a 7" humidity dome, and the light is on top. If I didn't have to accommodate the cameras, I'd put the light about an inch or two away from the top of the plant.

Thanks! I guess I need to take a photo of just the leaves with the white stuff on them. It's on most of the upper leaves. I swear I did not notice it when I bought it, then I got it out of the car at home and was like, "OMG!" LOL But I think it hasn't spread at least.

Nice capture! I saw this red in spring and its color, beauty and fragrance placed it well above the other reds (Veteran's Honor (prettier in bud), Always and Forever, Oh My! (nice looking floribunda but not as bewitching), and a couple others. I hope yours does well and we see lots of pictures!

she's beautiful golfguy! enjoy safely. please continue to keep us up to date on your purchases. and don't mind the occasional insult. it happens a lot around here. i live in a big golf town but don't play myself. i was thinking of some lessons though, since i can't ride horses anymore (accident in fancy automobile i was driving years ago. way too much car for a 17 year old girl!) i don't care to see the toothbrush but if you've got any art around (besides the bentley) i'd love to have a peek at it. And here is Touch of Class, first blooms today. Tomorrow I will try to get a good pic of Tropical Skies, which opened 2 beautiful blooms today. What a fantastic color it has!

You have a classic collection of many outstanding hybrid teas that were introduced at the end of the hybrid tea era, which era's 'end,' came when the Austin (English style bloom), and Knock Out (easy care shrubs), roses rose to preeminence. That occurred at the turn of the century.

For your rose care you indicated you are using an application of, 'triple action granules,' which need plenty of watering to activate and keep working. I assume you are using the Bayer product.

That leaf damage looks like rose slug at work. Rose slugs are the larval stage of the saw . It's easy to control, but treatment must start BEFORE the damage starts. Remember the time the damage started this year, and start treatment in time next year to head it off at the pass.

Your roses are magnificent. May you enjoy many years of happiness ahead with your roses giving you continual refreshment of mind and inner most being.

Thanks, guys. Moses, what is the product I should apply to stop the rose damage? I applied the 3-in-1 granules as soon as I spotted the damage and watered copiously to dissolve the granules. Right now, I'm on a second or third flush of blooms. Haven't been able to deadhead as much as I wanted to because of construction adjacent to the driveway. It looks like Tropical Skies in the backyard is done blooming, unlike the hybrid teas in the front yard, but Fruiti Petals alongside the TS is still at it. BTW, Moses, do you know the Creegers of Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh?
