36'range/oven combo, or 30' range and 30' wall oven?
Comments (4)I wouldn't do it. My boyfriend had a 30 inch cooktop right next to his wall oven. I hate it. There is no down space except to one side of the cooktop. The closest downspace for the oven is the cooktop. He has wood cabinets and the former owner tiled all over the side of the cabinets in order to have it be easier to clean and I assume to protect from flare-ups on the stove. As I said before, I really hate it. Not a fun place to cook at all. Go with a nice 30 inch range. There are lots out there. Perhaps you can fit a 36 in range into the same space? Even better!...See MoreDCS 30 vs Wolf 30 vs DCS 36
Comments (3)Have a DCS 30" dual fuel. No complaints about the fan, but that's a subjective issue. My Zephyr hood is noisier. In general, a very nice, heavy duty appliance. The bead blasted stainless cooktop requires patience when cleaning. You can get it perfect but it takes elbow grease and multiple steps using oven cleaner and sturdy cloth. Don't use any abrasives like Barkeeper's Friend or Scotchbrite pads. You'll scratch it and there's no way to repair it. When you first get it, wipe the cooktop down with some acetone before using it. They use sticky tape to hold down the burners in shipment and the glue residue from that tape will burn right into the cooktop. And it's extremely difficult to get off. The acetone will help you avoid that issue....See MoreOven Preheat Times: Miele 36" DF vs. Wolf 36" DF Range
Comments (7)I have a 30" wall oven (Miele). I regularly preheat for 30 minutes. Years ago, before I bought the oven, I was told to expect that. The dinger goes off before 30 minutes. But the oven will not be fully and evenly heated before that. With one of those bigger range ovens I would expect 30 minutes minimum no matter what anyone says. One thing about the Miele that is not well known and that mutes the entire preheat argument. Their auto roast setting starts in a cold oven and requires no preheating. But the food is done in the same amount of time because the top and bottom elements are used and the oven algorithm compensates. I use this setting so often I would buy the oven again just to have it....See More36" range with single 30" wall oven vs 36" rangetop 30" double oven
Comments (7)Not sure if I'm too late to the party here or if you are still deciding. When we renovated our house 12 years agoe we went with a 36" bluestar range with gas oven and a GE Monogram 30" electric wall oven with GE Advantium Microwave/speed cook/convection above it. I've been super happy with the decision. I cook all the time on the range top and mostly use the wall oven however love having the big gas oven, which fits 2 turkeys for Thanksgiving and roasts them beautifully. Unfortunately our GE Monogram just went kaput so I'm now shopping for a new 30" electric wall oven. Will most likely go with the GE Monogram again but wish I could find one that has knobs and looks a bit less slick. If you've already picked would love to know what you went with and if you are happy with the choices....See MoreJAN MOYER
