Well, don't use so much force that you damage the foliage.. I'm not sure if they will climb back up, I suppose they may, but if you keep disrupting them, they should not get out of control... Starting from seed may help,a bit, but they likely will migrate in one way or another. Encouraging beneficials is the best thing to do for control....daddy long leg spiders love them, so any of those guys you happen across, move them in to your garden and they will likely help you out a bit. In fact, any spiders will be of great help, so you should keep them around when you see them...unless it's a black widow or something, in that case get get rid of it safely lol...

They are 8 to 12 inches long, some are straight and some are curved kind of like a thick Banana and real dark green ;-) Just screwing with you ;-) When you harvest lemon Cucumbers , they should be slightly yellow, and they are not necessarily round but somewhat oblong fat/pear shaped... if they get darker yellow,they taste nasty... I like them almost whiteish... ;-)

I bought a few of the bonnie brand burpless cucumbers about 6 weeks ago. one had 3 plants and one had 4. I attempted to separate them, but realized I would damage them too bad, and hated to kill them off by cutting a few out. I decided I would plant them as is and see how it went, if they didn't do well, I would pull out the weakest. They were both planted in 5 gal buckets, the one with 3 has gotten so huge so fast, I can't hardly keep it trellised! I ended up pullng out the 4th plant from the other grouping, because while they were growing, I could see a difference in the growth rate. When I pulled it out, they shot up quickly. So I would say it should be safe to have 3 together with great results :) If you can tho, I would give it a little more space than the bucket, but mostly just to have more room to get to the roots and flowers. I can't think of any reason why you couldn't substitute zucchini for the cucumbers in Ellie Topp's recipe. Thet are often subbed for each other in pickling recipes and are actually a bit less risky simply because they contain less water to dilute the vinegar than cucumbers do. In addition, this is a straight undiluted vinegar recipe with additional lemon juice which is even more acidic than vinegar. And yes, you can also sub zucchini in the NCHFP B&B pickles recipe since it too is a straight vinegar recipe. Dave
