Placement of pulls on upper shaker-style doors? Help needed ASAP!
Comments (12)There is no one right answer to this. Our decision was influenced partly by me being short so we chose a placement that put them about as low on the door as would look nice. Our pull's "legs" (the part of the pull touching the cabinet - not sure what to call that so leg seems as good as anything) are round. We placed ours on uppers so that the bottom leg of the pull (i.e. the bottom part touching the door) was centered with respect to the bottom rail. On the lower cabinets with a door we did the same thing except with the top leg and rail instead of the bottom. The result is that the end of the pull is kind of centered on the diagonal running from the inner corner of the rail and stile to the outer corner of the door. Since your pull has a longer leg, that might make the bottom of the pull look a bit too close to the bottom of the door.so moving it a bit higher with the inner edge lined up with the inner edge of the rail as DCward suggests might be better....See More2 panel shaker doors and 3 panel lami glass door-weird?
Comments (1)Whenever I see glass closet doors, they always seem to be in rooms with wood doors in the rest of the room, so I don't think they have to match. I like the look of glass closet doors and think it would look fine....See MoreChoosing an interior trim/moulding style to match 6-panel doors.
Comments (1)I think it depends a little on what the panels on the doors look like. They could be shaker style, traditional, modern, or something else I haven't listed. They could be very rustic/cabiny! The style of the panels would guide my decision. If they're shaker style, I would look for some shaker trim designs. If they are traditional, with several grooves in the panels, I would consider something more elaborate. I hope that helps!...See MoreInterior doors - Shaker or 6 panel?
Comments (16)Replacing doors is an expensive project. Why do you think your doors need to be replaced? You have an eclectic style that leans traditional. NO SHAKER DOORS with that house. So the house is a mix of a couple of styles but primarily Country French and Federalist/Georgian. Shaker would be used of this was leaning toward an Amish Farmhouse. Your home is more formal than that. Here are doors you can consider for the house. 6 Panel would only be used if the house were Colonial which it isn't 2 Panel Raised 1 panel If you're going to do Country French you might want this. This arched 2 panel if you want to do French but not so much country. If you plan on spending $$$ for solid core doors you might want to consider something like these below....See Morecpartist
