Help furnish my empty living room
Comments (10)That is interesting the comments about turning the piano around. I think it's hard to see on the layout picture, but the hinge is on the long side. Turning it so it opens to the wall would seem backwards because of the music reflecting into the wall instead of the room. Does that make sense? I would love to just "pick it up" and turn it different ways to see, but that's not realistic:) Anyway, I do like the angled last picture. It seems to better group the furniture and has the comfort/secure feeling of not having your back exposed (and that should be easier to try)! I will let you know how it goes! Thanks again!...See MoreHi, need suggestions for the empty wall in my living room
Comments (8)Thank you guys for all your responses and feedback. what do you suggest if I don't put anything over there! or as I put the lanterns on the fireplace. as I don't like the socket to be seen do you think this is ok keeping your suggestion not to put anything on the wall....See MoreHelp! my living room has been empty for 2 years!
Comments (34)Came here from your other post about window treatments. I can see why they used the dining room for the LR. That light is wonderful! If you use your dining room less than the LR, I'd swap them too, Then the stage makes more sense, "Ta da! Dinner is served." Really tho, it's not that bad. If the entry hall were wood like the rest of the house, it probably wouldn't stand out so much. Maybe. 😊...See MoreEmpty living room wall
Comments (3)I had my living room painted recently and the vent cover was painted the same color as the wall. It really does help. Everyone has vents, so even if they're still visible, no worries. Also, don't feel it's necessary to put anything on your walls over 8' or even eye level. Twenty years ago that was more of a thing to do, and there still may be people who have great art collections who do it, but usually the upper space is left empty. You could use something to the left of the television. Do you have a need for storage at all? Interested in buying a wall unit or getting built-ins? If this is your family room, you could hang family pictures. If you find assembling a gallery wall daunting, shelves allow you to change out the pictures easily and integrate other decorative objects. Some people like symmetrical arrangements while others like something more freeform. While not all of the pictures I'm adding below are of living/family rooms, you can still get ideas from them....See MoreLyn Nielson
