Can you suggest a blue for my living room walls?
Comments (11)thank you richfield95 - I love that blue. Yes, it is a TV room. I'm planning on the TV against the back wall on something open or simple (I like rustic contemporary) and the couch will be on the tall wall facing the window with a slim console table behind. Lil S - THANK YOU! I will try to look into that closer!! Beverly - Sigh. I know. I'm just really over white walls. I have been accenting white for so many years and I'm kind of over it right now. It is still a consideration though. How do you feel about one blue accent wall. :) Pandtkendall - All the flooring was selected and viewed in the house and I have fabric samples of the sofa. I've run it them both past the C&B person (she helped me pick the couch color based on the carpet I brought in) and then took the color we selected back to the person at my flooring place who will also help me with window coverings. It's just the paint that I really need direction on. :) And the accent chairs. I have NO idea what color I should go....See Morehelp decorating empty living room wall
Comments (9)Maybe it's my clumsiness but I'd want something fairly shallow on that wall if I needed storage (15" deep or less). Otherwise, colour can "fill" a wall. A mural or art as mentioned above would be fun options. My first thought was a row of étagères with interesting details. Perfect spot for coffee table books and some interesting objects. Can get pricey as an option though. And I'd need to "curate" the display, otherwise it could easily look cluttered. A low-budget option could be a graphic wall created with paint. There are even some geometric wall stencils for this purpose. Plenty of options out there! Have fun with it and hope you keep us posted....See MoreNeed suggestions - make my living room lighter and cozy
Comments (61)a couple more thoughts... a ceiling light fixture will help and bring some interest for sure. have you thought more about one? art absolutely will help and so will pillows. I also think you might want to consider new inserts for pillows if you can. and larger size pillows like 20inx20in, not sure how that translates in com, but large size pillows will help. consider the size of the insert one size up from the size of the cover so it fills out the pillow and makes if more fluffy. if you get feather down inserts i would consider that too. thought I would share a couple pics that show how just a few additional features will make a difference. I like the idea of a couple large pillows on the floor too. I would style the coffee table a bit too...See MorePlease help with empty, large, living room in my new home!
Comments (43)Thank you, Mae. I'm definitely trying to enjoy this time, I know how fast it goes. The kids are just REALLY missing our old house. It's only 5 minutes away, but the house itself they are missing. My 4 year old asked the other week "when can we go back home?" my 8 year old can't talk about the old house without tearing up and my 11 year old who used to share a bedroom, is now scared to go to bed and says her room terrifies her at night. I know a big part of the home sickness is the new house doesn't have a homey feel yet. I have been buying soooo much stuff but I couldn't even tell you what. A book I bought for one of my open shelf areas🙄 said exactly what drdeb said. So I have definitely slowed down and decided to do one room at a time. I am just rushing a bit for the kids sake... maybe mine too. I think for the empty wall area I'm going to do family pictures. I know it's not what most designers would do, but I think I can display it in a tasteful way, and my family is really the only thing I love enough to hang in such a showcased area. We just now got family pictures with our newest addition so it might be awhile until I get them back, so I'll still keep my eyes open for something that really speaks to me but I'm not holding my breath. Thank you everyone for all the help once I start getting everything in and put together I will post pictures! Now, I think the next room to tackle will be my daughter's "terrifying bedroom." 😩...See Moregharnaya
