quick opinion on custom cabinet proposal
Comments (18)The thing about a mirror is you can cut/shape it just about any way you like, but that amount of flexibility can also bring design confusion over all the available options. Since this is a subjective matter, it can be entertaining to read feedback over matters such as one mirror or two, big or small, lights beside, lights above, both, etc. I would go with whatever makes you feel comfortable. Perhaps the deciding factor is cost, since the price to purchase, cut and install a large wall mirror is more than two smaller sink mirrors, although wood framing costs would be about the same. Regarding lighting, the only other suggestion I would make is to insure there is enough of it. I wouldn't hesitate to install two top sconces or a longer top sconce, or perhaps two longer side sconces. We decided on four vertical wall sconces inset into one wall mirror above the vanity: Here is a link that might be useful: Master bathroom renovation underway......See MoreNeed Quick Answer / Opinion on Wood Blinds
Comments (13)thanks all. I stopped by Penny's but our store only has dark walnut in stock and I am not ordering anything without seeing it first. I stopped by Lowes and picked up a couple of there real wood Allen and Roth blinds. They are also 1.5" slats. They are likely low end woods but I think they look way classier. Unfortuanately the color is a bit too orangey and after reading your comments I am now rethiinking the real wood option. With coupon the two real wood blinds from Lowes were $72 and the cheapie looking (but right color) Blindz Basic brand were $48. I am going to ask what a special order color of the Allen and Roth in th eright color would cost. To be honest I may just take everything back until I find something else. Geeez! HD faux line looks very much like wood but the suckers weigh a ton and are almost impossible to raise and lower. Plus the 2" slat looks a little off too me. So, I am thinking of just putting the old ones back up, or keeping the cheapies until I find something better...or maybe just getting the wood and see what happens. I never would have thought this could be so challenging. Maybe I'll start a post looking for longer term feedback on the basic blindz and Allen and Roth from Lowes. If anyone knows of another place where you can get the blinds reasonably priced and see them first..let me know....See MoreNeed quick opinions, does my tile need to be redone?
Comments (38)I'm so sorry about your reno fatigue--that can be overwhelming sometimes. I would say that whether or not you are up to the delays, etc that are involved w/ redoing the tile is a decision for you and dh to make. However, if choose to have it redone, I would strongly encourage you to reconsider paying out of pocket for more tile. It sounds like you did your homework about this tile, discussed it beforehand w/ the GC, and have had realistic expectations of what is acceptable. This is installer error, thus the burden to pay for a fix *is not on you*. Given your good working relationship w/ the GC, hopefully all will proceed peacefully. And I suspect your dh would be much more amenable to a re-do if there is no cost to y'all. I know mine would be! p.s. It is definitely easier/less labor to remove before grouting. p.p.s. If you do start over, you might want to indicate w/ an arrow on the back of each sheet of tile which way is "up". Although I still don't think that is your responsibility to take care of that, it might facilitate a faster, more successful install ;-)...See MoreQuick question and opinions needed for bathroom mirror..
Comments (1)It looks nice, much better than the basic mirror finish with a polished edge. Just put the same cover on the other side and you have a nice finish. That said if the if they made the mirror wider it would overhand the counter and it would look odd. To avoid that that outlet should have been moved to avoid the cut out and the other one should also be on the side wall to avoid any mirror cut-outs, most builders do that in situations like this....See Morepalimpsest
