We also have a pedestal sink in our ground floor powder room. No vanity, no medicine cabinet, just a mirror on the wall above the sink. For storage I added a couple of IKEA pieces (a small white melamine dresser and another small IKEA melamine cabinet with shelves and a door) but they now look quite naff after 33 years. I was thinking to buy something new to replace those melamine pieces but IKEA no longer has anything interesting. It was my dad's fault that we got a pedestal sink in the first place, he thought it would be stylish and European.... Yeah, he also got that for their condo but later had a vanity built around it to enclose it after Mom complained about the total lack of storage. After reading this I just got the idea that I'm looking at the wrong solution. I should replace the pedestal sink with a vanity with a marble top and built in sink. It all needs to be white because the walls and floor are ceramic in white and a light pink abstract pattern and I have no intention to change the ceramics. Thank you!

I'm calling out the above architects and designers for their enthusiastic endorsement of the featured man-cave. Were you guys absent the day man-caves were covered in architecture school? Sure, it has the requisite animal and fish trophies, but it's simply incomplete without a velvet painting of dogs playing poker or Elvis. Of course, it could be that Elvis has left the building....

This came out great! The grey and white were good color choices for brighten up this area. Also the walk in shower is very popular with the bench seat in it. The lighting fixture is very nice as well and brings in a lot of good light.

Thank you all for your help back in February! I’ve finished the room, and here are the Before & Afters. Photos are hard to get in such a small space, but hopefully it gives you the idea! Same bed, new art. Same sheets, new duvet cover & blankets. And a new cleaner wall colour (SW Shell White). Mango wood drum bedside tables to soften the edges; salt lamps on dimmers to provide enough light for reading, and an Apple Homepod Mini to use as alarm clock & speaker. Cellular blinds instead of the sheers. And springtime outside, instead of winter. Tidy new closet door, and fewer objects on the walls (nothing except the two paintings above the bed). And last but not least, those alcoves are gone! The photo doesn’t do it justice, but now the wall just disappears, and the room feels bigger. Again, thanks for all your help! I really like how it turned out. If you see anything else that it needs or any style faux pas (… yes, like the even number of paintings above the bed), I’d appreciate your suggestions.
