Front yard landscape ideas needed please.
Comments (2)With the redbud there and your preference for minimal planting you don't need an additional tree. Otherwise apart from their current size the main issue with the existing shrubs is that they have been formally sheared to all have generally the same size and shape, more or less. And since over around the garage an exposed foundation isn't visible you may not need to have any shrubs in front of the left part of the house at all. Due to the implication being that the foundation is not exposed there either. Maybe it would even be to your taste to have a bed of shrubs around the redbud and nothing but lawn and paving around the house....See MoreLandscape ideas needed
Comments (9)Hi, Hoping a pro will jump in here but in the meantime, you asked about using timbers. There are a lot more options out there now that likely didn't exist when the timbers went in, so I'd say look at those, like the blocks you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes or even get more attractive ones at a landscape supply place.Wood on the ground is a dinner call for ants. Is this your DIY project for your parents? Do they have pest control service? If so, you need to get them involved in the ant issue once you've pulled out the timbers. It's not usually an extra fee if they have a quarterly service contract. You may want to consider taking out all the plant material on the side and starting over. Hard to tell exactly from the side photo, but none of the plantings look like anything that can't be easily replanted and much divided or replaced with something else that won't over grow....See MoreLandscape ideas needed for small ranch home-front yard
Comments (4)Deepen the beds front to back and on the left side, I'd swing the bed out at the corner and plant a small tree. Small is the key word here. We don't know where you are, but in my zone it might be a Viburnum prunifolium, Red Bud, or Serviceberry. Low plantings would connect it to the house....See MoreLandscape ideas needed. Comments (3)I would not accept that bank as is. It will be an ongoing problem the way it is so steeply graded. With runoff, erosion and flooding. Have all drainage solutions in place before laying sod. Mark off your deep foundation beds now and cover in mulch, pine straw would be the easiest. This will keep the dirt off your bricks and get the shape of the landscaping started....See MoreSarah Loeppky
