Advice on planting Taylor Juniper in zone 9B

ajuh02
last year

I need a privacy hedge along my south-facing fence. Unfortunately, I live in a suburb of Houston (zone 9b) and instead of dirt I have ’gumbo’. I finally found a substitute for italian cypress (which cant handle the cold snaps we’ve had in recent years). The Taylor Juniper seems perfect but im worried i need to completely amend/replace a few hundred tons of our infamous gumbo if i dont want to kill the 24 Taylor Junipers I’d like to plant. Has anyone had any success, or failure, planting these?
