What do you do to keep the deer away from your plants?

The deer around here are bold and destructive. They are tromping through the gardens and eating the plants to the ground. They don't eat the daffodils or iris, but pretty much anything else is deer food. Hosta, daylilies, tiger lilies, heuchera, cone flowers ... all chomped, and they trample whatever's on the way to those.

We mix up sprays using hot sauce, garlic powder, cayenne, soap, etc. but it has to be reapplied every time it rains and changed periodically to have any hope at working ... pretty sure mommy deer teaches her twins that it doesn't matter if the plants are spicy.
