Cabinet colors except white to pair with Taj Mahal countertops
We've finally decided to go with Taj Mahal countertops for perimeter as well as island. We do not want white cabinets in any kind of white shade. Though online research shows kitchens done mostly with white cabinets as that's probably the safest and best match with Taj Mahal.
Any suggestions or pictures if you've done a darker shade of cabinets with Taj Mahal or any other stone that's similar to Taj Mahal?
We are planning to do island cabinets in a different color than the perimeter. Our initial though is to go with slab doors and do a wood stain, such as
white oak ivory or even bit darker for perimeter countertop and black or dark charcoal cabinets for island.
At this point, there is no buyer's remorse even when now I think that it may be too much Taj considering we are doing backsplash, countertop, and the waterfall island - all Taj Mahal. Our flooring will be a plain cream large format tiles, so no wooden flooring here. It's also an open concept layout so the windows are white too.
Looking forward to see some pictures of your kitchen with cabinets that are not white. I've attached the pictures of my slab for reference. The lighting is bit off but the underdone is cream with brown veining.

Quartz to pair with Taj Mahal quartzite island?

Comments (8)Based on the image you posted - and bearing in mind differences in lighting and monitors, etc... Your stone looks like it's in the same territory as SW 7036 Accessible Beige, so color card 249, and SW 7035 Aesthetic White, color card 259. There are definitely green undertones to your slab, and you could absolutely look for greens that work, something like SW 6171 Chatroom. Comments (5)You can't use the Elkay ELXUFP362010PAO to which you linked becaust it has a full apron and requires a cabinet that accommodates a full apron sink. If you're not getting new cabinets, you'll have to use theElkay ELXUFP3620PAO to get the Parchment color you want. It's easily converted to a workstation sink by having your top fabricator leave a 1/2" rear reveal and having your handyman rabbet a cutting board which is much easier than having him alter your cabinet doors to be able to use the full apron sink. The Elkay ELXFDB3620BGRTO is a possible short apron workstation alternative, however, you'll have to get it in Ricotta which is bright white. Either sink is 36", so your refacer is going to have to leave you a left and a right side dummy drawer to butt to the apron and cover the remaining 6 " or so. It will look fine. I'd get the 3cm. "Is there an advantage to using an apron front and single bowl versus an undermount & double bowl?" Yes. An apron front sink can help greatly with seam placement and veining/movement matching because the only place the slabs touch is in the rear, mostly out of sight and the seam is half covered by the faucet and splash. 98% of my sink replacement customers go from a double full divide to a single bowl. 1% get low divides and 1% fully divided replacements. Just do some searching. There have got to be even more photos now, because that ideabook I made was when I remodeled my previous kitchen in 2017 and wanted dark cabinets in a Spanish style house.Also note that most of the dark kitchens with Taj Mahal tend to be more traditional. Also be careful with doing a waterfall edge on a kitchen that isn't modern/sleek as they don't always look quite right. Because something has become a trend, it doesn't mean that it belongs/fits in every kitchen or house.

last yearI love what you all have accomplished and designed. Thank you! I too have confirmed TM for countertops and island, it’s a fairly small footprint with a partial open plan.
Struggling with back splash to support Midnight cabinets with TM. Flooring will be white oak with a natural stain.
