Orange brick ranch with dark green roof. Help!
Comments (5)But the thought of that becoming a huge maintenance issue is concerning. I have done some research and I see the paint products in primers and sealers are much more advanced than they ever have been. Romabio, don't do paint. Most people who advise against painting brick have never painted brick, seen painted brick or lived with painted brick. Living with a color of brick that isn't pretty because there "might" be maintenance issues defies logic. Why people think it's better to live with ugly brick vs. doing something about it is beyond me. I don't get it. The brick on that house isn't too bad but IMO you're not losing too much if you do a white mineral paint to change the color. The factor of a green roof it morphs into a whole other animal and I think you're spot on with your design goals....See MoreColor of roof and gutters for red brick mid century ranch?
Comments (14)Hello Houzz folks - wanted to give a quick update on our project and maybe ask for a little more advice. We put off our roofing project (yay 2020!) but are about to pick it up again. In the meantime we have made some other changes inspired in part by this very thread, so it only feels right to share! First, we painted our garage door Urbane Bronze as suggested by one of the commenters here. We LOVE what it does to ground the front facade of our ranch and it really brings up the darker brown and black in our brick. Please pardon the crappy photos (and the overgrowth!) in this picture, which was taken as the first coat of paint was drying. Looked even better after the second coat! (No idea why this picture keeps coming in sideways!) Next we tackled the front door situation. I'd always wanted a vintage solid wood MCM door to match the age of the house. A friend found a PERFECT fit at a local Restore several years ago, and I finally got around to rehabbing it. After many hours sending, several tubes of wood filler, new glass and some paint, we had a vintage deep blue 3 lite door with black hardware. I'll update with a picture of our finished product later, but the color we used was Salty Dog by Sherwin Williams, which looks absolutely beautiful against the brick and the bronze storm door. Here's the Salty Dog color: And our door is similar to this: So now we will finally get around to the roof to wrap this all up!...See MoreHELP: MCM red brick ranch color ideas
Comments (11)The existing dark bronze color of the siding is already a color often recommended for combining with red brick. Note that what you have already leans ever so slightly green (or so it looks on my computer) but in a very muted way so there is some contrast between brick and siding (green and red opposite on color wheel), but not so much to call attention to itself. I like it!!! However I think siding color should be considered in relation to roof color - since metal roof colors are so limited. What are you thinking for that? Perhaps a similar bronze or greige for the roof....Ive seen some which are more metallic in appearance vs. flat color. And then siding color simply becomes something that is different from roof color but closely related (ie darker, lighter, more grayed, or less grayed). I agree with the above posters that it is a beautiful house in a beautiful setting and it is that deck that could use some attention. Use deck structure (if sound) but maybe replace wood handrail with wire or glass as suggested above - the idea is to lessen the obstruction to the view....See MoreGetting new roof and siding on brick ranch- please help with colors!
Comments (14)If the gray/green on the house I posted appeals to you, these from BM could be similar. The color used on the house was a custom mix. Your brick with some black and white is very classic and nice. ETA - Just wanted to say I believe the roof color on the house Patricia and I posted is gray. Looks great with the paint color....See Moreffpalms
