I was out today enjoying the 70+ temps and sun. Forecast here is for rain off and on the next 4 days.

You are several weeks ahead of me, growth-wise, but I had to mow the lawn again today. Parsley has reappeared for me, and of course the arugula. Rhubarb is up. Primroses are blooming along with all the spring bulbs.

I spent some time weeding, and trimming back the sweet autumn clematis that takes over the east fence every year (it is actually from my neighbor's side, but they won't do anything with it.) Primrose are blooming along with all the spring bulbs. However, I saw that a deer found a section of fence that the high winds blew down, and ate not just the usuals (like tulips and the tender tips of the fruit trees) but many things just emerging that they usually leave alone - like heuchera and woodland hyacinth) I think another indication that the herd has gotten too large for the space here.

Two of my well established roses seem to have died, and there is a lot of dieback on others. The grapevine had looked about to leaf out 2 weeks ago, but now looks dead. I wonder if the "mild" winter caused that - warmer than usual, but with some intermittent deep freezes - like we had just a few days ago. And I can't remember a spring with so many strong windstorms as we have had in the past 6 weeks!

Not so warm here. Tomorrow is predicted 49 high, 35 low. Seems to be staying cool later this year, or maybe its just me in the mood for some sun and warmth.

We went to a family lunch a couple of hours from here on Saturday. Lots of fun and I loved getting the chance to spend one more day with a young couple here on their college break with their baby. Good news is they'll be back at least one more year, he's going to go for his masters in Fall. Yay!

But I think we drove more than an hour of that 2 hrs drive in continuous hail. Then, so windy at the harbor. It was keep the baby inside or weight him down or he could have ended up in the bay.

I want so much to be working outside. I'm getting my second pair of true leaves on my tomatoes I started from seed and have less than a professional set up for them inside for long. I need to come up with some kind of covered 'something' for outdoors and the small walk-in greenhouses I've looked at just aren't in my budget. DH doesn't even eat a raw tomato, they are for me ;)

Uncovered, the deer will never leave them alone.

I did discover chickadees coming and going from one of three bird houses this morning, must be planning a nest. I'm still hoping to find more than one of the boxes used, the chickadees are such friendly cheerful little creatures....

94! Yuck. Supposed to be in the 70s here in southeast Pennsylvania. Spring is popping up all over and for once the magnolia blossoms didnt get nipped, at least not yet. There wont be much gardening for me this year because my shoulder hurts.

Ive been running back and forth from my mother’s house trying to clear out stuff there, as i can. This job is too big for me. Ill hire someone when the time comes, probably in the fall.

It's warm in PA and will be 80 this week. I HATE it!! We had exactly 3 inches of snow this year and a hot January and February making them the hottest months since the 1880s. On top of that, the whole rest of the country has had so much rain that there are floods and many feet of snow and we are in a drought. Everything is bone dry. I love winter and didn't have one day of it. I dread this summer.

It is so nice that our gardens are reawakening. Hopefully, our aches and pains will heal soon. Today started out coldish but temps climbed to 70. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the daffodils are everywhere. The red maples are budding. My hydrangea are growing from the bottom, but so far there are no leaves emerging on the branches. My lawn has been cut twice so far. I have had lots of robins, finch, and cardinals visit the feeders. I hear a very busy woodpecker working in the neighborhood. I spent the day returning clothing items I ordered online as I assemble an outfit for my niece's wedding festivities which are this weekend. What a task it has been! Challenging and fun!

Its been rainy here, which my plants are happy with. And if they are happy, I am happier. My fruit trees that I planted last year have woken up and I love to see that. One of my truck drivers brought me a satsuma tree, which I have yet to plant but I am very excited about. My collards, cabbage and broccoli are all doing great and seem to be loving the mild weather we are having and of course the rain. I wanted to try to grow some things from seed this year, and the seedlings all looked like they were doing great but then they all turned yellow, shed their leaves and died. I am not sure what I did wrong. But its no big deal, I will just buy plants instead.

I am fighting what seems to be a MASSIVE aphid infestation on my roses in my work garden. The hose situation I have to water them with does not produce enough water pressure to blast them off, and I really do not want to spray them with pesticides because they are covered in blooms and I do not want to hurt any bees. I have ordered 9000 ladybugs to EAT THEM ALIVE whilst I GIGGLE with GLEE!!!!!! I wait impatiently every day for them to arrive. I hate aphids. I will release some of them in my rose garden at home too, just in case any aphids have any ideas of trying to move in there. And I will take some to my parents house for my moms roses. I have never seen such a heavy concentration of aphids as I do with my work garden every year. I do not know what it is about THESE roses that they flock too. Those and those horrible Japanese Beetles give me fits every year.

I ordered some festive Easter shirts to wear to work, in a size XL, I like them to fit a little loose. I received 2 packages. One with the correct shirts, and one with the same shirts, in a 5X. I guess they sent the wrong size, realized their mistake, and then sent the correct ones. I have emailed them to see about returning the 5 XL shirts, as I could not ever imagine finding a use for them. They would not fit anyone I know. If they do not want them back I guess I will just either donate them or turn them into rags for SOs shop. They are not high quality, durable shirts. Just fun tacky ones for fun Holiday outfits.

Its been over a month since I met with an attorney about my car accident and have heard nothing. I assume that since my only injury was whiplash, and my main concern was getting the car damages compensated, they are more concerned with clients who would bring them a bigger paycheck. I guess I cannot fault them for that. But it is annoying how long it is taking. The wreck was almost 2 months ago.

I have got a lot of overtime coming up. so I wont have a lot of time to garden, just enough to do the bare minimum for the next few weeks. I have a vacation from work scheduled at the end of this month that I am really working forward to.

It was 80 here today that weather would be headed toward you, Kathsgrdn. I read a prediction of 84 for tomorrow.

This is the first time in 42 years gardening here that I did not have to start my spring work with a coat on. Wham: straight to warm weather. Hope it cools down on the days I need to do some heavy digging in compressed rocky soil. The wind helped today and I got four trees planted in lighter soil.

81 here today in west central illinois. supposed to be about the same tomorrow with storms rolling in the next 2-3 days. anything over 70 is too warm for me! my 2 danes aren't fans of the heat especially since they don't get to go for near as many car rides.

Our cold weather continues in L.A., and so far we have had highs around 60 and lows near 50. However, for the past three days, we have been in Atascadero in the Central Coast wine country, and the highs were in the 50s and 60s with lows in the upper 30s and mid 40s, and so I had to buy a new jacket.

We went to Paso Robles first, as it was on the way, and did some shopping downtown there, where I bought the jacket. I already had two jackets, but I had left both of them in Cathedral City, and they were both hoodies. I wanted a jacket without a hood, and I found one I liked very much in Paso Robles. It's a very nice place to shop - it reminds me a lot of Sonoma, but Paso is known for its olives and olive oil, whereas Sonoma is know more for wine. Atascadero also has vineyards and wineries, but we did not go to any of them this trip, as we had gone for the wildflowers:

We took I-5 on the way up and saw a lot of snow on the mountains, and then we took Hwy 101 on the way back and stopped in Santa Barbara, which is about halfway, and had lunch on State Street.

We had a taste of spring on Saturday, but it snowed yesterday and we're expecting freezing rain tomorrow. I have appointments at the hospital tomorrow so I'm not happy about the forecast.

Northern Alberta, currently 18 F. and a foot of snow on the ground, but the thaw has begun. Patches of grass are showing. The sun isn’t setting until after 8:30 PM.

I think many would find our weather here very pleasant right now - highs in the low 80s, lows in the high 60s/low 70s, but I'm envying those with lower temps right now. We also have the scourge of Red Tide, due to all this warmth, making the air very irritating and the beaches very unpleasant. I have tomatoes ripening, lots of lettuce and Asian greens, and snap peas, cukes and squash starting to take off - also trying to figure out where to squeeze in pole beans.

It's warm today, supposed to be even warmer tomorrow. But with great warmth comes big storms for us. Warnings have been issued tonight through tomorrow.

Lars, for some reason Auction dot com keeps sending me notifications of houses in Paso Robles. I've been there several times (when it was a stop on the Tour of California cycling race) but never looked for a house there. I have eaten at Pier 46 Seafood in Templeton every time I have been on the way down 101 - the best Swordfish sandwich I ever had! that is now a decade ago :(

Real estate in Paso Robles is pretty reasonable, by California standards. Atascadero is slightly more expensive than Paso, and Templeton is slightly more expensive than Atascadero, for some reason. The best restaurants are in Paso, but the restaurants in Atascadero are very good also, but they are more low key. The food is still excellent, however. I think that restaurants in all the wine areas are better than elsewhere.

I can't imagine living in the central coast, but I love visiting. It's nice to go to places that have especially good food.

It's 21F today, snowing off and on. Went to Walmart, husband is off today, he wanted to do an oil change on his truck, needed to buy oil. Turned on the defrost, whiteout conditions, wipers were sticking to the windshield....and the windshield cracked....over a foot long crack..coming from a tiny chip on the windshield. I have zero deductible comp claims. Had to schedule a new windshield and have it calibrated....it's a smart windshield.. My FIRST EVER auto claim.

Tomorrow I'm going to the dentist. The assistant tried to clean glue off my cap, used a scaler and put a hole in the back of the capped tooth. Next week I'm seeing an orthodontist about getting my teeth straightened. I keep putting it off. I have time "now" and covid is behind us.

I had a light fixture arrive with a corner of the package missing, mashed, torn. The seller had me send photos, so he can file a claim with UPS. He told me to file a claim with Ebay, instead I filed it with Paypal...now he's mad at me...and isn't hurrying to give me a refund, like he said he would.

I sent off for leather samples from West Elm. I need to get 2 new club chairs for the downstairs, next to the fireplace. Only one of us is comfortable....in the one club chair we have now.

My cordless mouse stopped working. The new one will arrive friday. It's difficult to maneuver without it.

I'm enjoying my new rowing machine. Great for my just healed knee injury. Very low impact. I also purchased the movie, "Crazy RIch Asians"....loved it the 1st time...loving it again while rowing. I have "Nobody" on order.

In the middle of a blizzard, a week ago we had 14 inches and we are expecting more this time.

A late snowstorm is predicted for today!! Arrrgh! Enough already! lol!

81 and I HATE it. I had to water all the plants I brought up from the basement greenhouse. Now I can look forward to a half year of hot weather and drought. Bah humbug!

Had to dig out my shorts today, 80's for the next 2 days....where is my Bandana? This is spinach bolting weather.

I had the pleasure of observing the blooms on the white dogwood in front of my kitchen window start to open today. This morning they were buds.

BTW everytime I see the tilte of this post I read it as "I'm going to be 80 tomorrow." Every single time!

Tornado warnings even as far NE as Chicago and SE Wisconsin. Super wet here, plus ice-cube size hail this afternoon. Danger should clear by tomorrow morning, but temps are to go to the seventies, then plumit again. This is only going to get worse everywhere as we reap the result of ignoring climate change. The pair of doves trying to nest in a front gutter don't seem concerned, but aren't we supposed to be smarter?

After midnight and it's in the mid 60s here. Today it was 23 degrees above average so in July when the normal high temp is 85, add 23 to that! Tomorrow in the 80s again which breaks all records.

No damage here (north of Chicago) after high winds and rain starting at 7 a.m. The hot/cold weather clash can generate tornadoes. 'Our' storm just exited out over Lake Michigan.

Definitely warming up for us here in SoCal. Prediction is high 70’s to 80 by Sunday but glad we had all that rain!

I forgot to mention, it's warm and very windy today. I was going to go out and run some errands today but I hate driving in the wind. Will wait till tomorrow. I hope any storms that may be on the way won't be so bad. I haven't seen an update since yesterday.

We hit 85 here in KC yesterday with very high winds. I went over to a buddies to have a few beers with him on his 59th birthday. He lives on the top of one of the highest ridges in the county and the wind was howling up there all evening! I almost lost a new Chiefs Superbowl hat when it blew off my head and I couldn't catch up to it. We had to hop on his Gator to go chase it down.

Last night we had a lot of thunder in the area but not much rain at my house. We got some dime sized hail for about a minute around 2:15 am. I need to go check to see if my newly planted onions are still upright.

Its going to be 80 here tomorrow and I don’t like it it. Eighty is for June, not April. Last night i had to crack a window open it was so warm.

It was nearly 80 when I got up this AM! Now rain has come in, but it is still 78. Not the strong storm that we were warned about, but perhaps that is still tracking toward us.

Both the early (star) and later (large pink blossoms) magnolias are in full bloom, as are the apricots. The Manchurian Apricot bloomed in March, then got hit with frost, as did the Nanking cherry - but the Nanking is reblooming. I've never gotten fruit from any of these trees, since they usually bloom, and are always hit by our last hard freeze, in April. The native plum blossoms are just about to pop open too, but they are usually fine in a cold snap. I hope that the apples and cherries will be sensible and not bloom for a few more weeks!

Only vague memories of warm weather here...I can't even imagine seeing the ground, let alone lovely plants blooming and growing!

Been in harsh winter since Nov 1st of last year. Buried under 50+ feet of snow. Highs in the 20s F until today. Got up to mid-30s F today. At least the sun is out today. Not shady places are melting a little bit.

While we moved here to not be hot all the time, this is a bit much, and our bar is set pretty darn high. In the High Sierras. We better not flip straight into extra hot and instasmoke season like we've been doing for too many years now. Seriously wondering where else to live...

It's currently 82 and had a little storm come through a while ago. Hopefully it won't be that bad. I wouldn't want so much snow, now that I'm getting older. I used to love it when I was younger.

It's in the 80's here in Charleston SC and has been for several days. Finally had to turn on my AC yesterday. The only redeeming feature is that we are between 2 rivers and usually get afternoon breezes that blow off them. Our spring started too early in February, with too much pollen, which usually does not bother me, but did this year. The flowers seem mixed up--- Some bloomed in Feb. too early and others are finished already. Luckily for us, the tornadoes, etc. seem to peter out before they reach the coast where I am. But I don't like hearing on the news that "tornado alley" is shifting East due to global warming.

I agree, Woodnymph, about tornado alley. Not good at all. It's cold and rainy here today. Only 55 right now.
