Thru body 12mm sintered stone recommendations

Susan Lewis
last year

For a very modern kitchen—thin countertops, full overlay slab cabinet doors, etc—I’m considering using a 12mm sintered stone (Neolith, Dekton, Florim etc) countertop, in a satin-type finish, with eased edges to reduce chipping. I’m already aware of other threads on Houzz in which people report chipping, scratching, and cracking. It seems these problems occur most often with high gloss finishes, square or mitered edges, 90 degree inside corners, and possibly installers inexperienced with these materials. So I’m looking for information from people who have had good experiences with sintered stone counters that do NOT have those details, but instead have satin or matte finishes, eased edges, and radiused inside corners, all installed by fabricators highly skilled with these materials. Can you please share what specific material and color/pattern you used, how you found a skilled fabricator, and any other details you believe contributed to a successful result with your counters?
