White Dove reads a bit gray in my light. Have you gotten some test pots and checked in your light? I know you're in a hurry, but i'm going to suggest that you slow down and take your time. My kitchen was icky when we bought it. I'm sooooo glad that we waited to do the reno. First, it gave us time to live in the house and see how it flowed and how we use it. I know I'd be unhappy with the kitchen now if we had done the reno when we first bought it. Secondly, there are so many things to learn here if you are a TKO like most of us. Take the time to come up with a good layout. That's the most important thing over all the pretty finishes and cool gadgets. Just my 2 cents!

I'm with Roses, plants are my favorite accessories. Right now I'm a 100% focussed on my inside and outside plants/flower gardens. Here's a new plant stand I bought a few weeks ago. I have plants all through the house. This isn't a great picture. Here's a picture I took a couple of weeks ago, it's just a tiny portion of a large cottage flower garden I'm growing. And THIS is my kitchen fixture. Lizzie, the little kitten we found in the backyard a year ago this summer! What a keeper! She's figured out the granite is a cool place to rest. :)

I can't believe I've not seen you. You must be on one of the upper decks and I'm stuck down here in the engine room, but, we are definately in the SAME boat. I had to re-make my drawer boxes to get full extension glides. My kitchen is also the one I grew up in, home built early 70's, and re-done once late 80's. Bought the house several years ago, and been DIY remodel ever since trying to get moved in. Makes one wonder if the walls were ever plumb and floors were ever level? (or if houses actually settle THAT much) LOL. Seems the deeper you dig, the more problems you find. Yours is looking good though! Great additions/modifications. Keep up the good work!

Bookworm (btw, love the name! I read a lot too!), don't worry about what others say. Pick what you want! I'm too lazy to clean nooks and crannies with a q-tip, so I had to give up the beautiful doors I fell in love with for something I'm willing to take care of (and still love, but very different). In my search for hardware and fixtures I had to ask if I was willing to clean it. Usually, no matter how pretty, it was "no", lol! You might be different, we all have to figure out what we can live with. You don't have to eat junk if you don't want to, but you do need to make peace with nonstick foil and single use plates/utensils for your own sanity. We grilled a lot, things that don't need much prep like meats, simple cut veggies (on foil if needed), potatoes, etc. anything you can cook in a foil pouch is awesome! We also have a rice cooker and toaster oven, which helped a lot. We also gave in and used some convenience items like chopped garlic in a jar to minimize prep/cleanup. If your not sure about large items or compromises, post on GW! I found it so helpful. I either ended up sure I made the right choice after seeing all the alternatives, or found something much better.
