Texture on quartz countertop

Hello,

We moved into this apartment a little over a year ago and I have noticed these texture changes in the countertops really only near our faucets. Any ideas of what it is or how I can get rid of it? I have tried a gentle mutli purpose cleaner, soap and water, and super diluted bleach that I washed thoroughly away afterwards. I dont want it to get worse but I also dont want to damage the countertops. We would like to not lose our deposit. Thank you for your help!

I have that too from hard water, even though we have a water softener. Honestly, what works really well for me is The Pink Stuff (look on Amazon). But I’m sure some pros will be able to offer more information and advice.

We've only had our Cambria quartz counter top for about 1 month and I LOVE it!! I did want more of a shine but find it is not very shiney at all : ( But is sounds like more prefer the less shinier type. Around here the popular ones are Oxford, Nottingham and Victoria from what the dealer told me. I like them too and thought that one of those would be my choice but ended up choosing the new Cranbrook Quarry series just because it went better with the cabinets. Preston and Brownhill were also very nice. I was able to take the small 4"x4" sample home for a few days to decide. I can barely see the seem and love how it cleans. Haven't put anything REALLY hot on it, like a slow cooker, and probably won't just because I'm scared to LOL. Here are some pics.......total cost $5700 (install & tax)

Thynes! Thanks so much for giving me the exact name and number for your tile. I had seen your expanded kitchen post and couldn't find the exact tile. You have such a lovely kitchen, so warm and welcoming and the tile really makes a statement. I also see they only have one USA distributor. Your tile in your kitchen looks totally different than on the website..were you able to get a sample or see the tile in a store? I've sent Saltillo an email as well..so we shall see. We redid our kitchen a few years back and did most of the work ourselves. Also have hardwood (oak) floors throughout house. We eneded up covering the linoleum kitchen floor with engineered hardwood and it looks great. We did not try to match the tones of the hardwood floors adjacent to the kitchen and went with something very different in tones and grain. As for mixing countertop materials, I think it can look great! We did mostly soapstone and then light maple butcherblock and they look so nice together. I like the way the wood softens the overall look of the kitchen, and it is also a really pleasant (and quiet) work surface.

could be mineral deposits from your water, if so you should be able to gently scrape them off with a razor blade. If you can get it clean, you may want to look into some sort of protective polish. I don’t have anything to recommend but Joseph Corlette has recommended Tenax for various applications:

The faucet will have to be pulled and an experienced technician with a Quartz Renew kit is the only way those are becoming inconspicuous. Not a DIY project unless you practice first.

This is not customer abuse; the hard water is sucking the plastic out of the quartz and it's common. You've got to grind the quartz back down to the plastic and put the finish back on. The marks were there before you I'm sure, so don't let your landlord get over on you.
